love this…more reliable than the wyse cam that it replaced
Love this cam, it works great and is easy to hook up if you limit your wifi to 2.4 mghz till the camera is done installing. Finds and stays on the network better than the wyse cam 2 and notifications can be reduced to a resonable level. Realy hate the adverts, that can not be removed.

    Good product
So far so good. It doesn’t do multiple cameras per screen or the option to cycle through them on a scan mode. Or split screen view.Fast and easy set up. Easily mountable to any surface. Only thing I would want different would be a longer power cord.

  3. The real life

Good camera but poor service and false promise
I purchased 4 cameras. They are working okay but false advertising about the 6 month trial. The app only offers 1 month free trial and even that you have to pay for an year with credit card to activate.Contacted the customer service but the very poor response and directing to the company policy.

    Great support
Great camera, came just as described, great price. Product came 1 day early. 5-starsI received the product and had a bit to of difficulty setting up the 6 months free cloud service-But I contacted the YI Support and they were Very Fast I’m their reply’s n definitely helped me ta get things set up. I always value a product that comes with great support 5-stars The camera stand can either be stood up and is also magnetic n can be attached to and metal surface. The night vision is pretty good as well n I give it a 4-stars. Motion is pretty good as well n I give it 4-stars. Motion alert is alright, It will notify an alert from the motion but I can only receive one alert n have ta view that alert before I can receive another alert, that is only for a notification alert, if the motion is dictated a number of time u still do receive the motion video but not an alert for each motion video. You need ta view the alert before u u get another notification, all in all I give the motion an 3-stars. For an over rating of this product I give it 4-stars

    not recommanded
To get notifications you have to leave the app open, you can’t use it to monitor baby as the speaker goes off anytime you leave the live camera page and the notifications aren’t realtimethe quality of the image is good

    Great camera !
Set it up as a extra indoor cam when we went on hollidays. WMotion works almost to good as it picks cars up driving on the street through the closed curtains. Lol . Getting lots of notifications when the sun goes down . Lol

    Cool and great value
Unboxed it today after such a long time. Very easy to set up on 2 smartphones. The second one just press share button from your phone and scan the QR code. Cool!

THEY WANT MONEY TO USE 4 CAMERA VIEW
This camera has ok picture and is easy to set up… but if you want more than 1 camera on the same app get something else… This app expects you to pay monthly just to view multiple cameras.. I have multiple other camera apps and this is the only one that wants money for this feature… I would have bought more of these if the app wasnt a complete ripoff… the prices arent even reasonable.. dont buy if you want more than 1, or if you care about being able to use them for anything other than checking 1 specific camera once in a while…

[Updated on 04/22/2019]I am adjusting my overall rating of the product after more than 2 weeks of use. I am pretty happy with what this camera can do. The camera has been working very reliably since it was installed. What amazed me is its infrared and night vision. It actually helped me to spot a little mouse that visited us in the night. After monitoring the video recordings for a couple of nights, I found the route that mouse went. So I got a mouse glue pad from the Home Depot and placed it on the route. Sure enough, I got the unwanted house guest the next day.It is a great product and I highly recommend it. You never know what it can do for you.[Original review posted on 04/09/2019]The Yi Home Camera 3 comes in a nice package. It comes with a USB cable and power adapter and setup instructions. The setup is a breeze. First, go download the YI Home App from the Apple store and sign up an YI cloud account. Once the camera is powered on, it finds the WiFi network by scanning the SQ code picture from the phone app and asks for the WiFi access password. Enter the password and you have it. You can view the live video streaming from the phone app, as well as playback or download the video clips stored on you cloud account. It comes with 6 months free cloud services.Pros: nice and stylish design; quick and easy setup; comprehensive yet intuitive phone app; good video quality and night vision; magnetic base for easy mounting on any metal surface, no screws are needed; the image can be flipped upside down through the camera settings in the app, allowing mounting the camera to the ceiling upside down; zoom and pan of the video image within the camera field of view is possible in the app (the camera head itself cannot be moved by the app, though). I noticed a nice little feature in the app which is moving the phone left and right will let you pan the video image left and right.Cons: the camera gets its power from the USB cable so the camera has to be near a power outlet or needs a long extension cable; the automatic camera on/off control is limited to a simple schedule setting via the phone app and misses the more convenient geofencing feature.

We started with one Yi camera over two years ago following the break-in of our shed and the theft of all my power tools. The investigating police officer suggested that we get a security camera but was not permitted to make a recommendation. I searched around the internet and decided on a Yi home camera mostly because of the price. This is our fifth Yi camera, the maximum the cloud system will permit, and I am convinced that there is no better camera system for the price. We use them when we go out of town to monitor our home and check on our dogs. The cameras provide a great resolution with good coverage. They are super easy to set up IF you read and follow the instructions. A strong WiFi signal is a must for reliability so don’t try to put a camera too far from the wireless router. I could probably buy a better camera for four times the price but why would I want to? After over two years of continuous use our first camera is still going strong with no problems. I have dropped it, accidentally sat on it and abused it in many ways and it is still working reliably. The only hassle is that I have to reset all of the cameras every time I change the password on the router.

Really like the camera, great image quality, pretty good night vision, really easy set up.I do feel like this camera is really just a way for Xiaomi (Yi) to just sell you a cloud service with monthly fee. I feel like most people don’t need the cloud service. You probably don’t need a cloud service if your camera’s microSD isn’t going to get stolen. Even though every piece of support from the official Yi staff and website says they support only up to a 32gb micro SD card a 128gb microSD works perfectly in my Yi Home 3! It’s a little upsetting how the official Yi team says the max microSD size is 32gb. I feel like they only say that so you buy their cloud service. The bigger micro SD card turned my camera keeping a little over 2 days of continuous recording with the 32gb to over 8 days of continuous recording with my 128gb microSD card! I’m not sure if a 256gb would microSD would work but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. This camera is supposed to have smart detection that has facial recognition but I’ve found that it doesn’t really work. I actually turned off notifications on my phone from Yi for almost all day because how many false alarms I get. You can set a schedule for your alerts in the Yi Home phone app so for when you know no one will be home or awake but that still notifies me of false alerts pretty constantly. I have my camera in my living room/front door area and I get “Human Detected” alerts whenever my dog moves on the couch, I also get alerts sometimes when a car drives by and the car’s headlights drag across my living room. The smart detection is supposed to be a big selling point of the Camera 3 over the 2, but it’s pretty lackluster. The good parts of the camera are very nice, and I still recommend the camera to most people. It’s very easy to set up the camera in the app. Also because the camera has been using the same footprint and design since the first version of the Smart Home Camera that means there are quite a bit of aftermarket mounting accessories that really expand the ways to mount it.

These work! Considering the price I was apprehensive however I could not be more pleased. Setup is a breeze and so far I have 3 cameras running.I love the intercom feature! An added feature I was really not expecting to be of any functional use but to my surprise, it is actually quite good.I highly recommend getting SD cards for each unit as this provides you seamless recording of activity for review.Range issues, none so far. My most distant camera from the wifi is in a separate guest house on the property about 300ft away and a couple of walls. My only complaint would be the cameras “click” back and forth from night/day during sunset. This triggers the motion detection feature and is a bit annoying every day for the 15 or so minutes or so the cameras are flipping between night/day. Certainly not a deal-breaker…

As an avid user of connected home products like Ring and Nest I was excited to install a few WiFi cameras. After doing a bit of research I settled on the Yi cameras as they seemed to have a great price point relative to capability. The image you get from the cameras is of decent quality when compared to most of the competition. The software on the other hand is complete garbage! Motion based notifications don’t come through half the time when you’ve put the software in “away” mode and/or you get constant notifications when you’re home and the software is in “home” mode. It’s really really bad.As an added bonus other reviewers are pointing out the fact that the EULA basically gives the company the right to spy on you whenever they see fit.I would avoid these and order something else.
