A method that works. Eckerling presents readers with her own tested and proven method: The DEB Method. DEB is a brainstorming and task-based system and stands for: Determine Your Mission, Explore Your Options, Brainstorm Your Path. Eckerling’s method is a roadmap for goal setting that helps professionals lay down a plan and accomplish their mission.
Making the process as stress-free as possible. Goals can be intimidating because of the pressure we often put on ourselves to succeed. However, Eckerling believes that setting goals should be easy―we just need the right tools to tackle them. Ms. R. L. Smith –
I love this book and I constantly refer to it to check that I’m on the right path when it comes to setting – and achieving – my goals. This book is very clear and goes into a lot of thorough detail about every single aspect regarding goals indispensable!

Your Goal Guide offers a practical approach to translating your values and wants into tactical goals and then gives you the tools to achieve them. I love that she backs up the goal setting process to help you hone in on identifying the right goal to go after – a huge help for some of us who know we want to make a change but haven’t figured out exactly what that change would look like. The worksheets she provides correspond with the tips and exercises in the chapters so that you can really work out your ideas on paper and keep them in one place. And the entire book is written in an approachable, methodic and kind-hearted voice that makes you feel like Debra is right next to you, encouraging you in your progress. This book has helped me decide on and work toward my professional goals. I keep it right on my desk so that when I hit a challenge (i.e. a “road block”) I can pick it up and scan through the helpful tips to get myself back on course. I highly recommend it to anyone who is seriously looking for a change, but isn’t sure where to begin.

As a personal trainer and business owner, I read a LOT of books about goal setting and self-improvement. This guide has been my favorite so far and one I will recommend to clients and fellow entrepreneurial friends. Not only does it help you get in touch with your “why,” something I’ve seen my most successful clients do, but it really serves as a friendly, fun guide to the goal setting process. Unlike other books that encourage journaling, this one truly does a great job of standing alone and reads like author Deb is sitting next to you and coaching you through the process. It’s not just a lot of fluff and questions, but like it says, a road map and guide. Deb includes anecdotes from her personal life and the goal setting and achieving journeys of her clients so you can see her tips in action. I enjoyed this book so much as a eBook, that I purchased it as a paperback as well. I hope you pick it up and use it to support you as you work on your goals!

This book is great for anyone wanting to know more about how to set and achieve their goals; but what I like in particular is that Debra Eckerling actually helps walk you through a process of how to even determine what your goals are – what it is you want to get out of your journey. So many times, we get caught up in the basics: finishing client work, making money, paying bills… that we forget to look at our business from the big picture perspective. Or we get caught up in loftier goals like making an impact or building our authority in something and we don’t know how to measure our progress toward those goals.I love how Deb walks you through how to really define what it is you want, then helps you brainstorm the path to help you get there. Not only that, but she really helps you navigate some of the trickier aspects of goal setting such as how to stay motivated once you’ve started and how to make and measure steady progress to get you there.I cannot recommend this book enough!

It’s no secret that I am not a fan of self-help books. Woo makes me roll my eyes, “manifesting” makes me gag. I’m pragmatic and, like everyone else, I sometimes need help along my journeys. This book is akin to having a career coach in your home. I’m able to easily follow along, set goals, and take action.Being a solopreneur is wonderful but it’s also isolating and my dips into this book during the week I’ve had it, helped me see things more broadly and keep moving toward my needed goals. It’s the poor woman’s career coach. A fab investment.
