Concise, informative and beautifully written, this book was a pleasure to read. The author goes deeper than I had originally expected as she delves effortlessly into the psychology behind the pain. The whole book is neatly packaged with step-by-step instructions and easy to follow photos. As an added bonus, we are offered sound nutritional advice and a range of stress management techniques. By the time I reached the end of this book not only did I have a very clear roadmap to follow, I also had a different perspective on pain. On the whole, a very enjoyable read and I think you will enjoy it too.

This book Yoga for Chronic Pain: 7 steps to aid recovery from fibromyalgia with yoga seeks to highlight the benefits of Eastern medicine, particularly the practice of ayurvedic yoga, in assessing and treating chronic pain. While Kayla Kurin, the author – a qualified yoga teacher – doesn’t discount Western medicine, she reflects on her own personal experiences to encourage and educate readers to the potential benefits of complementary or alternative practices. She begins by explaining pain, and its causes, before explaining the concept of ayurvedic treatment – which encompasses elements such as mindfulness, meditation and nutrition. At the end of each section, there’s a suggested task/goal for readers to try out.I found the book enlightening. It explained concepts clearly enough for beginners but also reaching enough depth for more experienced practitioners. It also gave me ideas for improving my nutrition.A must read on the subject. 5*
