Piece of mind for my dog
Works pretty good for the price. I bought the year subscription for tracking. Sometimes not as up to date, but for the most part I am very happy with my purchase. I can let my dog enjoy his country freedom and keep an eye on where he is. I really only use the tracking feature, as I was concerned about my dog wanderto the neighbour’s house. Love the text messages alerting to his boundary escapes, helps me to keep close tabs on him, even when I try it over night while I’m sleeping.

There are some things I really like about this device and I personally was really hoping that it was the answer for us but in the end, there was some major shortcomings that had me return it.When setting up the application, you will be required to select your pets “Safe Area”. This is essentially useless since in reality the “Safe Area” for your pet is really your “Wi-Fi Perimeter”. My Wi-Fi perimeter extends well beyond my property line which is a serious issue since I don’t want my dog in my neighbors yards 2 to 3 properties down the road…especially since one of them does not like Dogs. I talked to support a couple of times about and they just said that this is how the device is programmed. Example: My daughter took the dog out for a walk yesterday in our Acreage subdivision. Testing this out, I finally got notified that he had left the property 0.5km down the road and 15 min later. Not good.If this device is waterproof…Great. However, the charging port on the device is fully exposed. No cover or rubber cover at all. I honestly can’t see how long this would last? The battery cannot be replaced. Once the battery starts to fade, time to buy a new Whistle. The marketing pics show up to 20 days of battery life. You will not get anywhere near 20 Days with this device. The collar attachments could have been engineered better and with more longevity in mind.I am actually am sad to return it. The application was very cool and I really liked the fact that I could attach a device to my existing collar. An alternative to this is the Tractive LTE GPS Dog Tracker. I have now tested both. The Tractive device tracks way better and the safe zone for your pet is actually an accurate safe zone….not your wifi perimeter like the Whistle Go Explore. The only con with the Tractive is that the safe zone’s minimum size may or may not be too big for some folks. For us, it all worked out and this is the better device in my mind if your primary goal is tracking. As well, it is less than half the price! For the Tractive, you can get a one month subscription to try it out first.

The best unit we have ever had
We have tried three different “dog locators”. None lasted very long. Whether it be poor battery performance or water leakage. The Whistle unit has been fantastic. You can enter so much information about your dog. All the reports you get are helpful. Alerts are frequent depending upon the situation. We are very happy with the units so far. We have only had them for one week, so can’t speak to waterproof or long-term performance, but I expect the same high quality features in these areas as well.We feel very comfortable having these units on our two dogs. Peace of mind!

    Loved it! BUT!
Update: after 2.5 years it started to connect funny, wouldn’t connect few times, cancelled subscription and that’s it. Disappointing as it’s one of the most expensive gps for dogs out there I’d expect it to last longer. Won’t even charge properly anymore. Can’t turn the light on. Going to get an air tag.For the time when it works it’s great, fun way to track our runs or hikes or walks. But bummer when it stops working so soon. Probably won’t be getting another, had location issues in Europe all the time. Only works if you have service.Update: we have it for 1.5years I think, it’s great!Although didn’t work well in Europe, works well here in Canada. Battery life is still amazing, she swam with it in the water many times. Great product!Bought this month ago for my pup as a secondary safety feature. Love this! However! I’m not yet sure how this works in back country when there’s no signal. So far the battery life is great, I charge it maybe once a week. But it depends on how much activity you do. It’s like iwatch to me. Shows exactly where your pup is. Calculates how much daily activity your pup needs based on breed and weight. So great! I’m curious to use this more!We pay $15 CAD/ monthly for subscription, which is not much considering.

On aime tellement nos animaux! Go !

After trying another, more expensive tracker, I returned that one for the Whistle. Where as the other was not reliable when my dog was out of wi-fi range, the Whistle does a very accurate job of telling me where she is. I love being able to trace her path all day. I know when she leaves her safe zone, when she returns, and where she has been in between. Nice battery life. It’s small, and doesn’t bother my dog’s neck at all. She’s a Jack Russell and Daschund mix, so not too large of a pup. It can even identify when she’s taking a car ride and tell her to have a good trip via the app. The app is user-friendly, alerts of my dog’s achievements day and over time, and gives me a nice, bold yellow path line with where she is and has been. This is really great when I am at work and just want to see where she is when my wife lets her out. I am also relieved that I can find her when she won’t come when called. She was trapped once under a deck, and we pinpointed and saved her. Would not have found her if it hadn’t been for Whistle.

I have a whistle for my dog in the US — and loved it. So I gave one to my sister in Australia for hers. After I’d gone through all the trouble of paying and paying considerable additional shipping and blah blah — she gets it… only to be told it wont work there. YOU’RE KIDDING right? Then we had to totally unwind the deal, return the product, get credit for all the charges (which you did) — but you SHOULDN’T have SOLD it to me in the first place — what a PITA!!!

If I hadn’t received this product this morning like I did my dog would’ve either been lost for good or most likely been killed by the high winds(btw winds were 65+mph) tonight. Just earlier tonight the winds were so bad and high that is blew my backyard’s side gate open into the alleyway. My dog walked out of the backyard, by the time I thought to go back there to make sure he was okay. When I went out back the gate was wide open and he was nowhere to be found. I started walking out back and couldn’t see him anywhere, even with my phone’s flashlight and walking very slowly and scanning back and forth every step. So I turned on the app and put on tracking, once I received all of the information it told me where he went, where he stopped, and where he was. Once I got a good look at him I saw that he had gravel, plant and leave crumbs/bits all over. He was also kinds walking like he was dizzy. From the info on the app and how he looked I found put that he had gotten blown upwards of 45-55 feet down the alley. I’m am glad to see he was hurt from that as well.I was so happy that it worked and had arrived today. If it hadn’t I would’ve lost my little Chihuahua forever(or at least for couple days if he survived and someone found him)Anyways this device is amazing. I thank God and Amazon/Whistle for getting this to me in time to save my puppy. He is tiny only 4.8 pounds and tan colored, so at he would have never been found at night. Which would’ve been awful cause even if he did survive it rained for an hour afterwards. He could’ve gotten pneumonia or hypothermia.Seriously thank you Whistle Go™ you saved my puppies life.

As an indoor-outdoor cat owner, one immense concern of mine was making sure that neither cat of mine (I have two, only have the tracker on the one shown) would get to far away from home and would never, ever spend a minute past sunset. This is because at night, the area I live in is known to have foxes, coyotes and bears. Things I would not like my cat to know exists. Anyways, the one shown, has been known to “hide-out” once the sun sets because like any cat, is curious about what goes on, constantly. One area she has not been able to explore is of course, what life is like outside, at night. So, using this tracker, whenever she refuses to come in for the late night/dinner bell in hopes of staying out at night, I can easily log on, request my cat’s location and there fore go over to the general vicinity (Within 2 feet if cat is not moving. If moving, within 10 feet) and pick her up and bring her in. Yes it is that easy. Another thing is, you are also able to turn on a flashlight feature of the gps tracker. This can prove to be immensely important when trying to track down your cat as it gets darker. Believe it or not, I do have a hard time at seeing this pictured cat at dusk, so, having the light feature is amazing. Can take 30 seconds for the light feature to be activated, however, that is not a huge issue and is quite bright.Aside from the tracking and flashlight features, there are other features that make it worth it. You are able to see the places and destinations your cat explores (pictured above). As a curious cat owner, I found that to be an extremely cool feature. It also lets you know whenever your car escapes your “safe zone.” Also, the battery absolutely does last the claimed 20 or so days (does not track/update quite as frequently when in the safe zone. This have proven to be non-problematic for me. Also seems to be quite responsive to once the cat leaves or enters the safe zone. I get a notification/alert within a minute of entering or leaving the zone) and has been problem free once it has been set up, which, is also extremely easy to do.As you can see in the pictures, the tracker may seem bulky, however, this particular cat doesn’t even know when its on and I have noticed no change in behavior with her wearing it. Lastly, I have tried other gps trackers and not a single one (gps mini, which was way too heavy & fitbark, worked inconsistently) and this is by far the most effective & best one. $100 is by no means cheap, however, the light up feature alone, in my eyes is worth it. If you are a cat or dog owner, I would think this is absolutely the best gps tracker on the market. Its also quite water resistant, which is perfect for my cat who adores water and finds a way to dip her gps tracker into her wet cat food. This feature makes it an easy clean with wet wipes. Anyways, hope this helps.
