Some Good Advice
This book is all about staying grounded in the present moment. Many people exist, while being trapped into future expectations. A lot of other people constantly lament, about their past decisions. When in reality, we can only really live one day at a time. Living in the present moment sounds easy enough. But in fact, most people have no idea, how to control their time management. Kabat-Zinn outlines all sorts of methods, to increase our daily awareness. I believe most readers will pick and choose, what suggestions best work with their own personality.Even just being aware; of how our perceptions of the past, present and future moments interact, is a very helpful insight into our daily lives. Most readers should find this book, to be a valuable resource.

Life Changing
Life changing is the biggest cliché to call something, but this book is truly deserving of that title. The new perspective this book has given me in life and has forever changed the way I look at life and the world. In many ways the book teaches the reader so much about themselves, and does so in the simplest ways that we often overlook. It has been a month now since reading and I feel more: patient, happy, clear headed, and at peace.Jon Kabat-Zinn is very knowledgeable and intelligent. He also expresses a healthy skepticism for spirituality in the book and makes it clear that spirituality is not a required component of meditation or any of the lessons he teaches. Everything he talks about is deeply human and natural to our ways of thinking.

Important book for a long term lifestyle change
Very easy and simple book to understand. Mindfulness can be very helpful to some people to calm the mind or help with anger etc.

A well outlined and lovely approach to mindfulness
Having passed over on any reading of this nature in the past out of thinking anything in the genre is immediately related to current new age nonsense, I purchased this book to see if there was anything to the curiosity I’ve had for some time about mindfulness meditation. I’m glad I did. There was, and there is potential for immense personal value should you you chose to do the same.

a little “light” reading
I recommend this book as a companion to Kabit-Zinn’s Full Catastrophe Living. This is like snacking material, and you need the full meal deal as a base to operate from. Written in a series of small chapters, it is ideal for leaving around just to pick up when you have a few minutes to spare. perhaps leave a copy in your car for when you are stuck in traffic, or waiting for someone. It’s tiny morsels of wisdom and thought provoking suggestions may help you when you need it most. or perhaps when you don’t think you need it but can use a boost to get you back on the reality track in your day. Just a little “light” reading.

This is a classic. Great introduction to mindfulness and meditaton. I did a retreat once with the author and he was fabulous. It’s easily accessible with a set of teachings, followed by exercises that you can easily spread out to do daily or weekly. Great way to start, but you probably want to join an in-person class at some point to learn more and get the fellowship/motivation offered by a group. I found getting involved in the Shambhala meditation community was very good for both classes, friendliness, weekend trainings and occassional social events. When a friend or family member is struggling with something, I often give this book as a gift. Reciepients always say they find it helpful. Another good starter book on mindfulness is Pema Chodron’s ‘When Things Fall Apart.
