From the “raw and frequently hilarious” (The New York Times) investment guru andNew York Timesbestselling author ofThe Wolf of Wall Streetwho inspired the Oscar-winning film of the same name, a witty and clear-eyed guide for anyone who wants to play the stock market to their advantage and learn the secrets of a top Wall Street investor.
From Jordan Belfort, The Wolf of Investing offers “concrete insights and advice” (Booklist) on when to buy, sell, hold, and cash out; how to make smarter (and safer) investments; and how to build significant wealth over both the short- and long-term. Unlike traditional investment books, each page of Jordan’s lessons, colorful stories, and principles entertains you with the charismatic swagger portrayed so famously on the screen by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Belfort teaches you everything you need to know about savvy investing—even if whatever stock you’ve touched has turned to yesterday’s trash. As you read this guide, you will not only learn life’s most profitable lessons, but you’ll also laugh out loud at Belfort’s brazen honesty and salty wit. After being enraged by watching big banks steal money from individual investors and determined to right the wrongs of his own infamous past, Belfort now shows regular investors how we can use Wall Street to our advantage.
Whether you’re new to investing or want to take your portfolio to the next level, you will learn everything Belfort knows about the stock market from The Wolf of Investing.

Initially I purchased this book to teach my children how to invest. However, after reading the book I have reservations for reasons I will illustrate below. The first one hundred pages of Jordan Belfort’s book are very interesting. From a hard to believe story of a personal friend’s stock market loss to, an excellent tutorage on how to value stocks in today’s market, to then and entertaining history of Wall Street followed by the US Stock Market. All this communicated thru the author’s creative phrase vulgarities.Interstestingly, mid-way into the text Belfort spends the most time describing the history and functions of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC). However, there is an overwhelming slant to “the broker influence.” Many retail investors I know today do not use brokers. I personally have not used a broker in thirty years. Most highly educated individuals can read, understand, and make rational decisions relating to present company data found electronically. In the preceding years my experience with brokers did not represent what Belfort describes.Little did I realize the author is a disciple of the “Oracle of Omaha,” Warren Buffet, as illustrated in chapters seven and eight. It is also apparent he has been to Omaha and attended the annual shareholders meeting and witnessed the religious experience. Here, hedge fund management compensation scheme is reviewed for all to view. The story then moves on to validate Jack Bogle, who the author is also enamored, into an elaborate explanation of his invention of low cost mutual funds to track the Standard and Poor’s 500 with the development of the company Vanguard in the 1970’s. For the followers of both men the author provides excellent argument to validate their respective investment approach.Moving on the author then provides a very effective means overplaying the impact of compounding by presenting an impressive chart on page 228. Even though I have been doing investing for most of my adult life the model presented is shockingly impressive. I have many financial books and never seen it presented in this manner. The student to finance should closely study this chart for it is the most powerful force on the planet. Finally, the book is extremely well edited and written. It is approximately three hundred and twenty two pages long of easy conversational reading in twelve chapters with a table of contents. Cleverly, it centers around the failed portfolio of his brother-in-law then proceeds into a tutorage of the stock market to then circle back to assist his in-laws building their financial comeback. The work has twenty-three footnotes and no index, but many timely and helpful graphs and charts. In lieu of the sometimes obscene language situation, I think I will use this for instruction. If one follows the advice in this book, you will be very prosperous. My accounts can vouch for it.

the book could’ve been half the pages, most of the time seems that you’re reading a novel instead of an investment book

Very enjoyable book. Difficult concepts explained easily. I have been reading it avidly, I’d never thought I could read with passion a financial book. A must read for people willing to invest money, but don’t know much about it.
