The Steam BossWHY AND WHEN TO USE A STEAM DIVERTER:
- When pressure cooking foods that can be quickly overcooked, such as veggies, rice, pasta, and corn, you will open the quick pressure release (QPR) valve in order to quickly release the pressure and steam from your pot. Most recipes will tell you when to use the QPR function.
- A steam diverter should only be used when performing a QPR and should not be permanently attached to your quick release valve. Regardless of a diverters leak-free claims, permanently attaching a diverter interferes with your IPs designed operation, affecting its ability to seal, build pressure, and may clog during use.

I really like this little gadget. I’ve used it several times. I have a Duo Nova 6 qt. I find that it moves a bit on initial pressure making me a little nervous that it will move or come off. Happy to say that hasn’t happened but I do hold onto it for the initial burst. It does do as advertised – nicely diverts steam to the direction you want it.

perfect and easy way to divert the steam
I don’t have much counter space and my instant pot was always blowing off its steam right under my kitchen cabinet, unless I carefully turned the pot all the way around. Now that I have this little diverter, it’s a lot easier. I use it for both my instant pots, 6 and 8 quart. I put over the vent before I want to turn it to release steam and it’s an easy fit. A simple but genius addition in my kitchen!

Other diverters did not work on my IP
I needed a diverter to not have steam on my oak cabinets and this one is great. IP had indicated not to use a diverter but sometimes this is necessary. I had tried others that did not work with my pot but this one was adaptable and works fine.

This little gadget worked well as advertised; diverted the steam to the direction of wherever the opening is pointed at.and fitted the vent on my Crock-Pot; However, this gadget is not recommended for the Master Pro 12-in-1 because of the way the vent is designed on that machine.
