Decent fitness tracker, poor app/privacy concern, decent quality, thin case, inaccurate monitors
This is a reasonably decent (albeit somewhat typical) fitness tracker/smart watch (FV12) that appears well-built and for the most part works as expected. It only has 2 of the most common monitors (HR and SpO2 but not BP), which is a bit of a bummer since most others do have all 3 (or sometimes more) monitors s nowadays. It does have many of the standard features as most other budget or off-brand smart watches have; however, what set this apart from many others is that it has a slightly thinner watch face that some people might find useful although it doesn’t really make that much of a different for me personally.≡ NoteThese so-called SMART WATCHES are really just FITNESS TRACKERS with added features (i.e. flashlight, calculator; mostly useless ones too) and it’s NOT a true smart watch/device. A true smart device operates by itself on its own without the NEED to install an App for it to run and without depending on another device (i.e. your phone) to run.For instance, if your PHONE requires an App to be installed on a LAPTOP in order for various functions on your phone to work, or if your phone would lose certain features WHEN your laptop goes offline, would you consider your phone to be a SMART phone? Well, I wouldn’t and I’ll be extremely upset if that’s the case, and that’s exactly what happens here most of these so-called smart watches.###≡ FeaturesBy standard features, I don’t mean one or two. In fact, the standard nowadays is about a dozen or so including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen, or even glucose monitor just to name a few. It has 2 monitors, which is below average and worse yet, 1 of the monitors (HR) don’t seem to be accurate at all (SpO2 appears to be reasonably accurate for the most part although we know the figures for the vast majority of healthy people is usually either 98% or 99%) which is quite upsetting to have found out after numerous tests. In addition, the steps counter seems to be off by about 3300+ so that’s not exactly accurate either but it’s certainly not the worst.I should also mention that an increasing large number of these devices that I’ve come across lately have all suffered from the same (or at least quite similar) issues which implies to me that perhaps hardware (sensors and/or other related components) under the hood is identical across ALL of these watches. It also has the typical sports and/or exercise related features that many others have. It has a fairly large screen of 1.43″ (for a round case) in comparison to many others with a 1.33″/1.30″ screen. With that being said, 1.4x” is somewhat of a norm (or at least becoming increasingly common) at this point in time for these watches with a round case and frankly, 1.3x just isn’t sufficient nowadays (but I digress).I should also note that the advertised 120+ sports requires the app; otherwise, only a handful or so are available (which is more than most people would need under normal circumstance). The same can be said for watch faces/styles (100+ claimed) too and that’s a common practice for these devices nowadays. Though, I do like that the crown can be configured for additional tasks if needed.≡ BatteryIts battery capacity is unknown since it isn’t advertised anywhere but based on what I’ve seen, this probably has a capacity of 280-300 mAh or thereabouts and that’s pretty much the normal nowadays (around 300 mAh or so) for these trackers, so there isn’t any fancy here either. In either case, whatever the capacity might be, the only thing I really care is that it can last me an entire day (charge once a day is fine with me). With that being said, I also don’t have a clue about the longevity of the battery but that’s a common concern for all rechargeable smart watches out there (i.e. battery dies unexpected fast). Note that the default screen timeout is 5sec which is unusably short for me but it can be increased up to 30 seconds (whereas some other can’t at all while a few can do 60 sec) so that’s great. I don’t necessarily want 30 sec but it’s nice to have the options (I set mine to 15sec). It can always be disabled if needed as aforementioned.≡ Water resistanceBtw, these fitness trackers/smart watches are NOT meant to be submerged in water (salty or otherwise) longer than a few minute even though they often advertise as being IP68 or even 5 ATM which is completely nonsensical if you know what that really means (around 50m under water but it’s really meant for accidental submersion); otherwise, there is an extremely high probability that it will die prematurely, as I’ve found out the hard way.≡ AppFor those who are curious about what the ‘FitCloudPro’ app (3.3 rating) requires;✘ Any data may be shared with other companies or organizations, including but not limited to;* Email address and Phone number, Fitness info, Precise location, Photos and videos, Contacts* SMS or MMS, Files and docs, Installed apps, Device or other IDs✘ Data isn’t encrypted (typical practice in China)* Data is encrypted during transit✘ Device & app history* read sensitive log data✘ Contacts* read your contacts✘ Location* approximate location (network-based), precise location (GPS and network-based)✘ Phone* directly call phone numbers, read call log, read phone status and identity, Photos/Media/Files* read the contents of your USB storage, modify or delete the contents of your USB storage✘ Storage* read the contents of your USB storage, modify or delete the contents of your USB storage✘ Camera & Microphone* take pictures and videos, record audio✘ Wi-Fi connection information* view Wi-Fi connections✘ Device ID & call information* read phone status and identity✘ Other* receive data from Internet, view network connections, pair with Bluetooth devices, control vibration* access Bluetooth settings, control flashlight, full network access, run at startup, prevent device from sleeping✘ NoteLike nearly all other budget smart watches (or any other ‘smart’ devices really) out there, an App is REQUIRED for this to function at its fullest which means you are giving the manufacturer (and whoever they decide to share it with or without your permission) AND the app OWNER (i.e. some company in China and that equates to the gov in this case) your COMPLETE and entire historical data. Some people consider some of these (i.e. precise GPS location, health info, heart rate, blood pressure, sleep patterns, or the alike) to be ‘extremely’ personal information and therefore are private. Data mining, analysis, prediction, and eventually profit making and/or a form of control will be vital in many aspects of our lives in the foreseeable future. If this concerns you at all, look elsewhere.###≡ ValueAll things considered, this is a reasonably decent FITNESS TRACKER (with some smart watch functions) that works just fine if you don’t care about any of the issues mentioned above , in particular the issues with the HR monitor and to a certain degree the step counter. It’s reasonably priced at $60 for what it provides (a generic fitness tracker, FV12) and its overall build quality, features, usability, versatility, and performance. Your mileage might vary.

Thin, Feminine, Lightweight – Customizable Faces from Casual to Dressy
For me, the thinness of this watch, the color of the silicone band (neutral and matching my light skin tone), and the app’s selection of feminine, pretty, and dressier faces are its biggest selling points—it’s marketed to women after all. The claim of being “ultra-thin” is fairly accurate. While there may be thinner options out there, none offer this level of design at such an affordable price. The thinner screen, lighter feel, and feminine look, without sacrificing screen real estate, earns a thumbs up from me! 👍The watch offers many free faces to choose from, both analog and digital. I prefer the digital display because I just want a watch to tell the time (without squinting) and need the numbers to be easy to see. However, if you’re looking for a dressier, more feminine option, there are plenty of beautiful designs to choose from. The app also offers sporty and other genres of watch faces. When it comes to smartwatches, it’s not essential for me to pair the watch with my phone, since I already use my phone for talking, texting, etc. Aren’t we distracted enough? However, I do want a reliable watch to tell the time/date, count my steps, nudge me to get up and move, and remind me to drink water—and the app provides those features.I did have some trouble finding the “wake” gesture to adjust the settings (though it does come with an instructional booklet, the font is too small for these eyes), so I googled it and found an awesome video that helped.Overall, I do like the watch. For the price point and features, it’s a solid option. You’re getting a thin, pretty, functional smartwatch with all the conventional features you’d want. 🙂
