Useful & Easy To Understand
Money is never an easy concept to understand but this books breaks it down in a way that is easy to read, teaches you how to save money, and how to spend it in a smart way. I recently bought this book for my niece who is soon going off to college. We read it together and even took notes. I Wish I Had This As a Teenager!
In MONEY SKILLS: The Modern Money Mindset for Teens, all the basics are laid out clearly and concisely. Its language and approach is friendly and informing. The book describes a quick history of money—from bartering to the digital age—to give the reader a base appreciation for this thing called “money.” Key principles of investing are also introduced, like the “Rule of 72,” which really help the reader form their base for financial literacy. The role of taxes in society, the importance of goal-setting, creating a personal financial plan; these are all thoughtfully covered. The practical example case studies for creating a budget are excellent. They are clearly explained and very easy to follow. The book continues with great information on types of bank accounts, investment vehicles, and understanding loans and credit. The book even touches upon cryptocurrencies, CBDCs, and stablecoins moving into the digital age. If you have a teen, this is a no-brainer. It’s all good.

Great info for teens and adults!
While this book is marketed towards teens, adults could benefit from much of the information in here too. I appreciated the information helped to demystify the world of saving and investing by focusing on small simple steps. Great that there was a focus on passwords and security, charity, and viewing ideas from both a risk and reward perspective to enhance critical thinking.

a thorough book about money-related matters for teens
This book starts from the basics and goes quite far. What is particularly good about this book is that it explains things clearly and thoroughly.Basic financial concepts, budgeting, saving, borrowing, investing (including robo advisors that I didn’t know anything about), side hustles, earning, passive income, use of technology for all of this… This is quite good grounding in financial matters for a teenager. Miles JD, you did a nice job on this. Five stars!Attention to fellow Canadians: this does have some American content, for example when dealing with the tax system.
