An easy read that I wish I would have had 10 years ago
The 9 step process is so straight forward that I wish I would have had this when I started my career. Certainly worth the cost.

    FOO 9 Steps
I have been following Money guy podcast for 1-2 years, if you have already listen to their podcast & know what they are about then you don’t need to purchase this. I only got this as I wanted to pay tribute but also wanted to learn the story behind it so I know how it all started. Good Luck to Brian & many more to come in future

This book is essentially an improved and more detailed version of “The Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey, written by a qualified financial professional (CPA and CFP).I’ve read quite a few personal finance and investing books over the past few years and am currently in graduate school for personal financial planning while studying for the CFP. I hope my opinions in this review hold some weight given my fairly strong background in the subject matter and my passion for financial literacy. For some additional context, I’ve listened to The Money Guy Show on YouTube for nearly 4 years now, and it has been a major inspiration in my life to go into financial planning. When I heard Brian was writing a book, I decided to preorder. In addition, I listened to the audiobook while I followed along in the physical copy.Beginning with the financial content and merit of the advice: it’s excellent. The FOO is meticulously detailed and designed. It takes Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps and adds nuance to each step while making noticeable improvements to the order of financial operations. It’s a very beginner-friendly book, focusing more on actionable steps and less on the complexities of investing and complex financial planning. Everything is presented in a manner where beginners and even more savvy financial enthusiasts can benefit from its wisdom. As a longtime viewer of the show, I expected to already know most of the content in the book. I was correct in my assumptions, but I still enjoyed reviewing the fundamentals while appreciating the real-world examples Brian includes in each chapter. The chapters I enjoyed the most were the chapters near the end, where the author focuses more on the “why” of personal finance and the meaning and purpose behind building wealth. Building wealth isn’t necessarily about being “rich,” but more so about having the freedom to live your life on your terms and having the resources to help others do the same.Lastly, my favorite chapter is the final one, where the author discloses what he does with his own money. I’m a very nosy person and nerd out on personal finance, so I’m always curious what financial professionals do with their own money. Without spoiling too much, I can say I agree with his financial plan and I personally have a very similar setup (albeit with significantly less income, savings, etc.). Overall, I highly recommend this book. If most adults could simply get to steps 4-5, they would be far better off with their finances. It’s going on my bookshelf next to other great finance books like The Psychology of Money, A Random Walk Down Wall Street, and The Bogleheads’ Guide to Investing.

This was a pleasant and informational read. Parts of it aren’t really relevant for those of us that don’t live in the States, but that doesn’t diminish the great tips in this book and it only makes up a small part of this book and there’s likely uk equivalents of those products.Overall, I feel excited to get my finances in order, and the FOO is simple and easy to understand.

I suggest that anyone who wants to finally understand their finances and get organized read this book. The FOO, the author’s nine-step process to get your money right, is simple and achievable. I discovered Brian Preston and Bo Hanson five years ago, when I was laid off. My mother was watching the Money Guy Show, and even though I was out of work, I felt like all the things Brian and Bo taught gave me financial clarity — and honestly a lot of hope. I knew when I got a job again that I would begin to put the FOO to work. And that is what I have been doing for five years. Since then, I have nearly 5x my net worth, nearly tripled my income and gained a confidence about my personal finances that I never had. And I have shared their teachings with so many others — teaching kids in high school classes and Gen Z friends on Zoom calls. My fiance says that I saved his financial life. LOL. But honestly, I simply shared what Brian and Bo taught me (and several other educators and influencers, like Jack Bogle, Ramit Sethi, Rose Han, my mom and too many others to name.) This book captures everything I learned from these men in one simple read. Genuinely, I am grateful for your gift of teaching and willingness to share. You’d be surprised how so many people hoard knowledge. Not these guys! This was a fun read, and I look forward to watching the Money Guy Show on Tuesdays at 10am Central. Money Guy Mutant, out.

I really enjoy the money guy show and bought this book to support them. I did not expect the book to be incredibly thoughtful, insightful, motivating and at the same time without being condescending. I truly enjoyed it and definitely will re-read it!
