Its purpose is to provide support, encouragement, and inspiration for all who have embarked on the wonderful journey of meditation, and for all who are considering doing so. A variety of simple meditation techniques are offered to help both novices and adepts move through obstacles and enhance their practice. Several areas of this book also address the questions of why we might want to meditate, what are the benefits beyond stress-relief and good health, and what might we expect at various stages of our practice? The underlying philosophy of meditation is also explored and explained in simple, clear terms. Many people are attracted to meditation and embrace it with enthusiasm, only to find that at some point they have become disenchanted and unable to maintain their practice. The tips and techniques contained in this wonderful book have helped me enormously in my practice. The writing is clear, concise and very appealing, and this is better than any book I’ve read on the subject to date. It’s well-written, understandable, easy to keep with me when I’m on the go, and there are so many suggestions about meditation, mantras and subject matter that it provides great variety for my practice. Also, it contains wonderful quotes from just about every teacher and belief system you can imagine; it is a great pleasure to read these and realize anew that so many different philosophies share one common bond, which is about how love works in the world. I am delighted to have this; it has cleared up many of my misconceptions about meditation practice and has given me a clear and unmistakable sense of meditation’s value and benefits in my life, many of which I had not previously realized. I strongly recommend this book to beginners and experienced meditators alike; it’s a true eye-opener and great fun to read as well.
