A product that will last a life time
I absolutely love all my lodge cast-iron, and the wildlife collection makes it even better. With the right aftercare, this product will last generations. The pre seasoned cast iron is wonderful, just start using it right away and just clean with hot water and a bamboo bristle scrub brush and a little oil after and your pan will stay non stick forever. Cast-iron is obviously heavier than traditional cookware, but it is so worth it.

    Amazing
Lodge is durable and reliable, and the wildlife series art is splendid

    Good value
This is a nice griddle that I use for eggs, pancakes, egg burritos as well as for baking. I use it with an induction stove. NOTE: the following is a quality of a cast iron skillet: the middle of my Lodge griddle heats much higher than its outer edges, even though the ring in my stove is about the same diameter as my griddle. My other skillets (ceramic or steel) distribute the heat much more evenly to the outer edges.

Perfect when cooking for 1 person
It’s well built and heavy like most cast iron, easier to clean than expected. It’s can be non stick and is indestructible.

    Nonstick
Okay, so this is my second purchase!! But that’s because i didn’t know how to care & use cast iron. so I damaged it! Although, it’s already pre-seasoned, i seasoned before use. Wash, completely dry, then apply shortening & wipe off completely. Place upside down in preheated oven at 375° for 15 minutes. Remove & wipe, this removes chance of dark streaks from the polymerized oil. Then place back in oven for 1.5 hrs. For first 2 months, only used it for bacon, preheat cast iron for 10 mins, then rub olive oil, never use cooking spray! 2 months later, an omelet just slides. Key::: always preheat for at least 10 minutes!

    Handle is a little short
The Good:- Seasons and cleans easy- Pan bottom designThe Not So Good:- Bad weight distributionThis is a great pan for camping and use at home. I would like it better if the handle was a little longer just because it would be a lot easier to use as it is very pan side heavy. Very easy to oil season and maintain to keep the non-stick surface. Even after washing with water, you only need to do one cook and season session and you have your non-stick surface back again. Thanks for reading! Cast iron pans are one of those things that people either love or hate; I’ve never heard anyone say they ‘sort of like’ cooking with cast iron. Much of the dislike comes from not knowing how to care for cast iron, and the expectation that it will be like cooking with Teflon. Cast iron does take a bit of extra tlc, especially when it’s new, but it will last a lifetime(and beyond) if treated properly. The most important aspect of caring for cast iron is to dry it completely after use; if it is left soaking in water or put away wet, it will rust. There is no cookware that is more versatile; the sky’s the limit when it comes to its uses. It can withstand extreme temperatures, so it’s great to bake in. Any concern about a potentially dangerous coating that will flake off of a pan into food is non-existent. Cast iron holds heat longer, and heats more evenly than the ‘disposable’ non-stick pans that tend to develop hot spots(then wind up in a landfill). Once it has a proper seasoning on it, very few types of food will stick to a cast iron skillet. And if a mallet is needed for pounding a chicken breast thin for cutlets or parmigiana, look no further than an 8” cast iron skillet. The wildlife series meets Lodge’s high standard of quality, with the added bonus of being works of art; each size skillet showcases a different animal. The 8” skillet features a duck, and it’s really beautifully done. It’s too nice to stick in a cupboard; hung on a wall, it would be an attractive addition to any kitchen. This skillet is the perfect size for frying two eggs, cooking a single burger or grilled cheese sandwich, making a small pan pizza, sautéing veggies, or baking a big cookie. It is well worth the price paid, and then some. Lodge is a reputable company that has been around for a very long time; I have a lot of cast iron pieces, and with the exception of one, they are all Lodge. Did I mention these last forever? Put me in the ‘love’ column.
