A new spin on a classic design, this dual-handled 12-Inch seasoned cast iron pan is perfect for everyday cooking, from morning pancakes to roasted chicken dinners. The cookware is hanging as it rides on a conveyer through the seasoning process. As it rides through the seasoning tunnel, an electrostatic sprayer applies a natural vegetable oil seasoning to the pan. As it the pan passes through the seasoning ovens, the seasoning oil can sometimes collect into a small bubble at the lowest point of the pan and as it’s heated in the seasoning ovens, that bubble can develop a baked-like surface. That surface can sometimes flake and reveal a brownish color beneath. The brownish color is not rust but caramelized seasoning baked onto the iron itself and disappears with use. It is inherent in the seasoning process and not rust or a defect.

    Just a wonderful pan
    I love this pan especially because it does not have a long handle. Almost all my CI pans have long handles which is not bad, but storage and even look is better with short handles. Honestly this is the main reason I have never bought sets of pots and pans. I guess it must be an American trend, as I have one set form Europe (not CI) that has only one long handle pan and 9 other small, medium or big pots. So I told you al these to emphasize my short handle preference. The other reason I love is that it is Lodge, which means good quality for a reasonable price. This is a big pan, good on the stove or oven. It works for whatever dish you cook, maybe except the tomato based stews. That’s true for all cast iron. It is big enough to roast a big chicken or duck or sky is the limit for your ideas. The more you use the more non stick it becomes. I simply love it. Maybe a lid would be good (not necessarily CI).

    I’m sold
    I used this on the BBQ to make some veggies and smash burgers and just loved everything about cooking in it. The onions and mushrooms cooked up perfectly, the buns toasted perfectly, and the burgers cooked perfectly! I’ve done fish, paninis and eggs and as long as you use a high temp oil e.g. Canola, and let it heat up to a good medium temp where the oil is shimmering, it’s pretty much non-stick and it cleans up easily with a light scrubbing using a stainless steel mesh scrubber and a little warm water and soap.

    Wholly Cast Iron!
    So I did A LOT of research…and always kept coming back to Lodge. I watched videos, read reviews, read comparisons. I did it all. Over and over again the path led to Lodge. I, myself, have never owned a cast iron skillet. Those were for our parents to own, who seasoned them perfectly over generations. I was terrified of cast iron and their price. But Lodge definitely did not disappoint. It’s an amazing price and an amazing pan. Right out of the box it was seasoned beautifully, a rich black sheen that seemed to be consistent and even. I chose to do an additional seasoning before it’s first use, so I cranked my oven to 450 degrees, lightly oiled it with grape seed oil (cause that’s what I had) and put it in the over upside down (so excess oil can drip out) for 1 full hour. My husband used it the next morning for his eggs (over easy) and they didn’t stick…like at all!!! Then for supper I did steaks then sautéd spinach in the left over butter and garlic from the steak. OMG. Nothing stuck, the crust on the steak was absolutely beautiful. I can’t believe it took me this long to get my first grown up cast iron pan! But I’m so glad I started with Lodge – you won’t be disappointed. I have a feeling there will be more in my future…Also, for those who aren’t novice home chefs, do a little research, there is a tiny learning curve (heat, smoke point etc.) You won’t regret your choice 🙂

    It’s a great pan! The size is perfect for most meals and the two loop handles means that it will fit in my relatively small oven too. It’s the nice heavy quality you expect from Lodge. If you love cooking with cast iron, you should have this pan!

    A real natural non-stick pan with dual handles – Too much chemical non-stick in homes
    Why do people think non-stick is safe when the chemicals that were sued for health problems are just changing their names and formulas around? This is naturally non-stick with real pre-seasoning (not painted) and cleans up with just a wipe, is large enough to do anything on the stove or oven (like a pizza that’s finished under broil) and has a lifetime warranty. The handles on either side are actually better than the standard longer one – lifting a 12″ iron pan by one handle is more uncomfortable than you think (especially full of food), this dual handle helps keep the weight balanced rather than a heavier one to the side, it also takes less space in the oven and has an original appearance over a typical frying pan.Lodge pans on Amazon seem to all get great discounts at some point, so this was an incredible deal at $40 for several months. There’s a small chance a spot of seasoning might rub off in shipping or even in your kitchen and appear like rust. The magic of cast iron is it restores itself when seasoned again in the oven – a much better trade than ingesting teflons that leach into food, have been proven toxic and will always wear down and get scratched.Make sure you check for any defects like cracks or a surface that’s too rough or uneven, pour some water in to make sure it’s flat and not collecting on the edges. Cast iron can be wiped clean or gently washed with a sponge and soap, just make sure you wipe dry to avoid rusting.

    Absolutely awesome!
    Finally found a cast iron pan with no handle, that fits in my convection oven. The non stick quality is perfect, right out of the box. Tossed potatoes and carrots in olive oil and roasting them in the oven. I will definitely be getting a lifetime of good use from this pan. I highly recommend.

    Imagine all the room the long handle of a standard 12″ cast iron pan takes up in the BBQ. Sometimes the lid won’t close. You get what you pay for. Not the least expensive pan for a reason, however, priced right. Solid, no welds, no joints, 1 piece construction, easy to clean and season… and deeper than a standard handle pan.We love it! I mean me and my Traeger pellet grill. Corn bread, beans, pizza, sliced veggies, seafood and the list goes on and on.Stop looking, this is my 3rd Cuisinel cast iron product. Wish I got a coupon for referrals cuuz lots of the neighborhood has these pans now.
