This 11-Inch enameled skillet is great for cooking on gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. Not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames, nor in the microwaves. The use of vegetable oil or cooking spray is recommended for better cooking and clean up. Select low to medium heat when cooking on stove top, and never heat an empty pan. Use of wooden or silicone utensils is recommended. Lodge color-porcelain enameled cast iron cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating bottom sidewalls and even the lid. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture. (Note: Lid is not included with this skillet.) The excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Two layers of very hard, glossy porcelain enamel are chip-resistant and easy to clean. The black cooking surface on the skillet is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware’s original appearance. 11-Inch in diameter, this skillet is 1-3/4-Inch deep.

    Do it ..worth the purchase
Awesome product…I’ve got a whole set of the lodge pans ..definitely recomend this model with the enamel on it..non stick works really well and it’s easy to clean..the no seasoning is a bonus!!

    Not Lodge’s Best.
Not like other lodge enamelled products I own.The non stick is not non stick. It’s definitely cast iron based on the weight- but the interior enamel is sub par.

    Don’t risk buying this.
I bought this pan after reading up on it and I thought there were enough good reviews to try it out. Boy was I wrong. The weird matte cooking surface liked like it had been slapped on with and old paintbrush of something similar, totally not uniform or even at all. Then I cooked on it and it got even worse.I cooked some breaded chicken in oil, which worked out alright, but after cleaning and drying the pan (after letting it cool of course) the next time I went to cook when I put the heat to it the oil from the chicken I cooked started oozing up from underneath the cooking surface enamel! Gross.I cleaned it again very well making sure it s spotless and bone dry, put it on the heat again and yep, oil started coming up through the enamel again. Like it was porous somehow.Tl/Dr after reading reviews and seeing it for myself the build quality is all over the map with this thing. Don’t risk your money and time on this item.Ps: I bought the Cuisinart 12 inch castlite plan to replace this and it’s awesome.

    Do not waste your money!
We seasoned it so many times followed all instructions people gave and at the end nothing!!! Still sticks!!! Total waste of money! Cheaper cast iron pans are better than this!!!

While I love how sturdy and heavy this pan is, it really doesn’t feel like the Lodge I know. Made in China, this pan is not pre seasoned and feels rough to touch.

I bought this to replace one I lost in a move. I don’t know if they’re making these different now, but the enamel chipped on the handle in less than 4 months of owning this. I didn’t even drop it, I just hit it going into the sink. I had my last one for 10 years and it never chipped.

i am really pleased, overall with my purchase. well worth it. i originally wanted a le creuset, but it didnt seem cost effective. this cast iron skillet is wonderful and a great price. the only warning is that if you are using it for some time, the handle does get hot, so be aware of that! also, sometimes it doesnt seem to clean up completely, but when i use it again and wash, it comes out clean. so no staining or anything has been noticeable yet. i let it soak for a little while but because its cast iron, it should be washed soon and dried immediately. however, i have left it in the sink with water in it over night and it didn’t show any signs of rusting, probably because of the coating on the surface. it isnt nonstick, so i use olive and canola oils generously, but i dont have to worry about chemicals like that from nonstick cookware, getting into my food. if they made a larger one, i would purchase that one too. i bought a splatter screen for when i am cooking bacon and such as it has no cover. oh,and i do have a glasstop stove. no problems, but definately be careful when placing it on the stove, its a heavy skillet. i use both handles. the second one was a great idea from whoever designed it. if you purchase a different brand make sure it has a handle on both sides. you will be thankful in the end!hope this helps everyone…and the blue color is really pretty.update (4-16-09): it is not nonstick and after using for a year it still is not nonstick (as cast iron usually becomes after use) so i use it mainly for cooking bacon and browning meat. not the best for cooking eggs. also, over time the finish has worn a little and the outside enamel has chipped but overall it still looks and cleans up well. i do wish it did not have the enamel coating on the inside though because then it would have seasoned and become more nonstick. however, the inside hasnt gotten chipped or scratched and i have occasionally used metal utensils with it. the center does have surface distortion though, not sure why.
