This book is very unique for a child’s alphabet book. It is challenging even for older children as some of the insects we have never heard of, so it’s fun for adults to read with their kids. The illustrations are well done and the colors are eye-catching. It’s a great book that I would recommend.

This is maybe aimed at the American market. I hadn’t heard of some of the creatures so checked them out. One butterfly mentioned is extinct, in 2 cases the American name is used eg “yellow jacket” for a wasp, and 6 creatures are not found in the UK. Pretty useless for encouraging a 2 year old in Essex who loves searching out mini beasts in her backyard.
