This desk only goes up to about 6″. Not tall at all and almost impossible to use. It is very well made though

The Hoodutric Standing Desk Converter is a compact and simple solution for adding height adjustability to a stationary desk. It comes fully assembled, which is a plus, and its felt feet protect surfaces, though they might need replacing with rubber for better grip. The platform itself is stable and provides sufficient support for a laptop or single monitor setup. However, the adjustment mechanism leaves much to be desired. While the height range is decent (from about 2 inches to 15 inches), adjusting it is cumbersome. The process involves pulling a side lever while simultaneously lifting or lowering the platform, and it locks into notches along the way. Unfortunately, the movement feels jerky, and getting it to the desired height can be frustrating. There’s also a risk of pinching your fingers if it gets stuck, and the entire adjustment process requires some effort to push or pull the frame into place.Overall, this desk converter is functional but not the smoothest to use. If you’re looking for a basic height-adjustable platform at a reasonable price, it may work, but be prepared for some frustration when adjusting the height.

I had real hopes that this would be an easy-ish solution to convert my desk setup to a standing desk to help me be less sedentary on the computer, but perhaps this is not the solution I need. We’ll start with neutral observation: It’s worth noting that fully collapsed, this standing desk raises your work area by 2″ and has the potential to raise it to 15″ higher than before. Depending on your height (particularly the length of your torso), this might be a great fit or not so much. For me, it was perfect. My first issue (1/3) is that it slides around on my glass desktop. The only barrier between it and the desk are small felted pads at the four corners of its base. There’s no additional way provided to make this more non-slip.You operate the lift by holding a knobbed pole down on the side, which allows for the metal stay to slip between the notches on the underside of the desk (see pictures). (2/3) I don’t know if the device requires more weight on it or if it needs grease on the lifting apparatus, but it’s a really jerky process to simply lift it. Adjusting it is even more difficult, requiring you to constantly check where the stay is in the notches and risk pinching your fingers multiple times to release it when it gets stuck. And boy oh boy, does it get stuck! All the while, you have to find a way to push or pull the bottom of the frame to help the stay to slide to the desired notch. There’s a lot of guesswork and it really doesn’t help that the frame keeps slipping and sliding on my desk while I’m trying to make it function. If this standing desk sounds like a lot of work to operate, it is. You’re not going to be able to adjust this from a sitting to a standing position on the fly, as I had hoped I would be able to. This requires a lot of coordination from the person operating the lift and would probably work better if there were *two* people changing the desk’s height. To me this defeats the point of a collapsible setup. All this being said, I probably would have tried to make this work if not for one last thing (3/3): I noticed that my screen appeared a little crooked when the standing desk was fully extended and I decided to check with a level. I have included pictures of the level on my original desk, on the base of the standing desk frame, and on the top of the standing desk fully extended. On my desk and the base of the frame, the level shows it’s plumb. But when fully extended, you can observe on the top that it is noticeably crooked. And I think this has to do with how the mechanism for operating the lift shifts the center of balance from the right side to the left as it extends. When there is more support on one side, the other side cannot handle as much weight.I did find some success in repurposing my rubber-backed neoprene desk protector underneath the frame to hold it still while testing it with my computer equipment. And I’m sure that if I really put my mind to it, I could find a workaround past the uneven workspace issue, but you really shouldn’t have to bend over backwards to make something new like this work, especially when it costs over $60. It should be a perfect fit for you, or nearly so. I really don’t want to use a standing desk that requires this much work to make it function properly.
