I cant ever go back
I have been a long time smart watch user, first purchasing a Samsung gear watch sometime in 2017. That watch was terrible, and I realized having notifications on my wrist is a TERRIBLE idea. I only wore that watch for a year or two before moving to the cheapest Fitbit in 2019 and then a fitbit Charge HR in 2021.The whole time I was with Fitbit I did not even realize they were subscription based, I had a free year with my first one and I got some extension on it although I cant remember why. With the Charge HR the subscription suddenly was only a few months.Using the Charge HR I started getting into running and tracking my runs, and the Fitbit NEVER looked the same as my phone by a wide margin, even with GPS supposedly on the device. My heart rate would fluctuate wildly and the data was not useful at all. Eventually my Charge HR subscription ran out and I practically threw the thing away that day.Garmin is awesome, accurate, well made, great battery life I could go on and on. For running or tracking any activity, its the best I have ever used by a long shot. I highly recommend this for anyone who is looking to up their fitness game and track long term health trends. The app was not the best but recently had an update and has (I think) a better layout which makes reading data easier.
So excited to give this to my boyfriend. It looks great. Fast delivery –
I LOVE IT!
This is the BEST Smart watch I’ve had so far. The accuracy of it is incredible. What i love the most is the different functions. Love it! Definitely recommend this watch if you are focusing on your health/workouts.

Great product
I have been a long time apple watch user and started running a few years ago. It’s frustrating that I need to charge my apple watch after coming home from work so it won’t die on me when I go for my run. This made me decide to purchase a watch that is solely dedicated for this purpose. Battery life is amazing. Quality is topnotch . GPS is very accurate. Comfortable to wear even when asleep. I highly recommend this watch.Update: It’s been a few months now since I purchased the watch and still very much satisfied with this watch. The main thing that I really like about it is battery life. I run at least 4-5 times per week and I only need to charge the watch once a week. GPS accuracy is on point!

Great for running
Bought for my husband to track his runs but he wears it every day/all day. Looks sleek and stylish with anything. Great value for money and easy to use. Guides his fitness and gives good fitness information. Easy to read and very functional. Seems durable so far, he loves it.

Happy after 6 months of use
It’s perfect, has everything, training plans and all the metrics you need. Battery last 14 days unless you’re doing a lot of activities, but charge in less than 2 hours anyway. Now I want that 60 Vo2MAX.Also I didn’t want the new one with the OLED screen, has less battery, and there is too many screens in my life already

Good enough
This smartwatch works well and battery lasts for a good time. The only complication is Music apps that are getting out of sync and takes long time to set it up again, which is very unfortunate when you are about to hit that training.

Love everything about this watch
I love this watch. Starting from the fit, it’s comfortable, light, and the perfect size for my smaller wrist. The straps are soft and comfortable so it doesn’t feel like it’s trying to move to the side of my wrist like watches often do. I love the colour and slight orange accents – understated and cool looking. The buttons are clean and crisp and responsive, and the menu layout is intuitive. The running dynamics are amazing – I’ve learned more about my running in the last week than in the 16 years I’ve been running. Power is especially interesting and I’ve used it to build custom interval workouts. I’m not using the cycling features because I have my garmin edge, but it easily broadcasts my HR to that device with fewer button pushes than my lazy device – quick, easy, effective. Insights into v02 max (different for cycling and running, interesting) are surfaced to the watch ad well.I’ve just started an adaptive training plan – can’t say mich about that yet other than I love the concept. It is odd to sign up for a training plan and not see the plan – you can only see the next few workouts as it will be adapted to your needs as you go. Looking forward to seeing how that goes.Predictive paces seem fast. Maybe it’s right, would be nice. Will try pace pro in the future to see.A few notes since this is a triathlon watch – no predictive paces for triathlons, seems to be only for runs and cycling races. No training plans for triathlons. I’m doing a run plan on tne 255 and a bike plan on the edge, but they aren’t integrated and don’t respond to one another. I’ll also be doing a cycling plan on Zwift and that’s just outside of this universe so I’ll have to manage that integration on my own. That’s all fine, but it will be interesting to see if / whether my run plan adapts to my fatigue or fitness changes from the cycling plan. Yesterday I had a gran fondo, which was on the garmin race calendar, yet it still told me to do an easy run as part of my run training plan. It should be easy for her watch to move that run knowing I had a long hard rice to do.Bottom line – fit, comfort, style, and functions are all amazing. Great purchase, very happy.

Upgraded from the Lily
I started with the Lily 2. While it’s stylish and cute it lacked GPS and wasn’t as accurate so I switched to the Runner. I am also looking to buckle down and get intense with my fitness so I feel the runner will help with that. With the added programs and keeping me on track with my goals.

As a fitness tracking watch this is an awesome introduction to the Garmin platform. We are a Garmin and Apple family with four Garmins and two Apple Watches. I use this Garmin for walking, running, cycling, stretching and general workouts. I’m very happy with this watch and the data it provides. As I said I can compare this watch to several others. Let’s start with battery life. Our Apples are on the charger every night. The Garmins all go at least a week, I average 9 days. We also have an Instinct, a 965, and a Golf. Biggest “complaint” is forgetting to charge them.My 255 connects to my Apple iPhone 15 without issue. It also connects seamlessly with my MacBook Pro, zero issues. I have and use separate HRM’s because for intense workouts I don’t think a wrist based HRM is the answer. My chest strap is much better than my watch for workouts. The 965 however is much more accurate during runs (compared against arm strap HRM) so Garmin maybe uses different HR sensors in different models? For walking and general use during the day my 255 works great!Value for $… I’d strongly recommend this watch without hesitation if you’re thinking about entering the fitness watch/smart watch world.I entered this fitness data world because of age. I have a friend who is alive because of data changes he noticed in his heart during exercise. A triple bypass later and this fit cyclist is still riding with me. At 60+ I thought this data was for younger more aggressive athletes. Not so. I am now a data nerd and train regularly partly because of it.Didn’t think it was important, in honesty didn’t know it was a thing but I now am aware of HRV, FTP, Training Status, Sleep tracking, and Watts. It’s addictive. But knowledge is power and knowledge can be healthy. I owe a 25 pound weight loss to this knowledge (and a lot of work). This watch alone won’t cause weight loss but for me it was a part of the puzzle.I really like my Garmin Forerunner 255. That said, my next one will probably be a 965, but at the price difference I’m not 100% sure the difference is justified, certainly not if this is your intro to the data! The reason I will likely “upgrade” is simply because my daughter has the 965 and I want to be able to share that (cool, we both have the same watch) with her 😉Final thought as I wrap up this review, as I said I’m getting older and as such my near vision isn’t great without readers but I can actually see the time on this watch so.. there’s that.

I’ve owned Garmins before and find the ability to objectively gauge and plan your training is a powerful tool. This watch takes it to the next level compared to my old ones. You get essentially the Forerunner 265 here minus the Amoled screen and the training readiness metric. Here’s a hint, look at your body battery and recovery metric and you have pretty much training readiness nailed down. The biometric sensors of the 255 and 265 are the same.Activity tracking is light years beyond Fitbit and also stock Apple Watched. Hell, having 5 buttons blows any Apple Watch out of the water for running. You can just hit an activity and go, or take a recommended workout. You can also make your own routines and upload to to the watch. I had some workouts from when I last owned a Garmin that I designed 10 years ago, and was able to upload and run them. I principally use it for running and strength training. For running I can’t find any faults for me. For strength training my complaint is the list of strength exercises is missing common exercises, like any read deltoid exercises…. It has an exhaustive list of odd ones too. Worst of all, you can’t make new ones. You can just use an existing one that is close enough and make a note that exercise X is really the one you did…. The watch also does a good job tracking indoor runs and both indoor and outdoor walks. It is pretty accurate in automatically detecting activities like impromptu walks, as well. The MIPs screen is amazing outdoors and way better at night when you would don’t want to blast your face looking at the time. In mixed-level indoor lighting, it lacks compared to AMOLED. It doesn’t have the pretty colors nor the contrast indoors, but I like a more serious looking watch anyway and find AMOLED to look like a game. The battery life is amazing. To get this sort of life on the 265 you have to let face go dark when inactive and use gestures to wake it. Not a big deal, but nice to be able to see the watch with a side glimpse without having to raise hand all the time.Customization is great. I downloaded a watch face that allows me to put all the metrics I need and have the time highly visible. Data screens are also very customizable. I have downloaded a custom data screen for running and for strength training to supplement the default screens. This isn’t a Pixel watch or an Apple Watch. As a smart watch it has limited ability and that’s fine. It reliably shows notifications. If you have your phone with you, you can initiate contact with an emergency contact. For example, you can send a message to come get picked up. If you have a compatible bank or credit card, you can use Garmin pay. I do find my financial institutions don’t currently support it, though. The music functionality is flawless. I use it with Spotify and a pair of JBL earbuds. It’s nice to be able to run with just the watch and earbuds and not have to carry a phone for music.I was able to use my ANT heart rate strap and foot pod from 13 years ago with no issues. They sync quickly and stay synced. The onboard wrist heart rate and running dynamics functionality have been very good when I haven’t used my ANT accessories. So there is no need to get an HR strap, but if you have or want one, they work flawlessly. The Garmin ecosystem; the watch, Garmin Connect App, and the website are great. Highly customizable and reliable. I had most recently used Fitbit and found the experience with the app and its website to be headed in a negative direction this last year.Overall, I highly recommend this watch. If the price difference between this and the 265 is around $50, it’s a hard decision. It boils down to how you feel about AMOLED versus MIPS, and maybe the chance that 265 feature set continues to get updated a bit longer than the 255. When the price delta is above $50…. The 265 becomes hard to justify and the 255 is the obvious choice. To reiterate, training readiness isn’t worth much at all. It’s a combination of other metrics that are already on both watches. So the decision is simply AMOLED vs MIPS display versus price.

My 11 year old son is a junior Olympian and swears by this watch for logging all his runs (seeing where he slows down & speeds up throughout his 5 mile runs), listening to music to keep his mind off running (playlist stored on his watch from the amazon music app) & pacing himself. Best of all as a parent, I have it synced to my phone & monitor all his metrics & data. Highly recommend. You get what you pay for.
