Note: Update at the bottom.If you’re on the fence about this steamer basket because it’s on the pricey side at $38, I can assure you that it’s worth it. I’m actually happy I melted our previous Oxo steamer because this one is such an improvement.For us, this steamer checks all the boxes. The handle has metal inside the silicone, which means it is super sturdy. The ring across the top has metal embedded as well, so no more flip-flopping when it’s full. The whole basket is quite firm and clicks firmly into place, no matter which depth you choose. The holes are a great size and perfectly distributed.But where this steamer basket really shines, and made me feel better about paying so much, is its versatility. I find myself reaching for it for all sorts of tasks: rinsing vegetables, barley, and rice before cooking; using it to hold diced vegetables while I prepare a meal; straining pasta; etc. The list goes on and on because its counter footprint is small, it’s sturdy, and the handle allows me to move it around the kitchen quickly without fear of it slipping out of my hands.For some people, particularly those with large families, the size may be an issue. But for a family of 4 steaming green beans, for example, it’s perfectly adequate.This is my second purchase from Fox Run, and I’m really learning why it’s such a reputable kitchen brand. Fits great in instant pot!
Use it for steaming veggies in instant pot, also bought it as a reviewer said it doubles great as a colander. It’s very sturdy and collapses nicely which is great in a small space. I use it to strain black beans, chickpeas and veggies. Its pretty much perfect, except that some of the holes in the base of it didn’t get fully punched out when it was manufactured, which makes it pretty tricky to clean out when it has something grittier in it like the leftover water from black beans.

Good steamer basket
I will state I did not buy to use in an instant pot so I can’t speak to its use in that capacity. I did buy it to use as a regular steamer basket and it works perfectly. Big enough to take all the shrimp I wanted to steam and the handle makes it so easy to take in and out of the pot.

Sturdy strainer
I love this item for my chicken soup and vegetables and other items that I just want to lift out easy. While the price was higher than other strainers for instant pot, this is collapsable and super easy to clean. No cons for this. Able to lift out without burning myself. I put in dishwasher and doesn’t hold any unpleasant smells, like a whole cabbage I steamed for Jewish Stuffed Cabbage.

Clever and multifunctional

Why buy anything else? Its a bit pricy but anything silicon is. You can tell its high quality. Thick and sturdy, for a collapsible. You have to use your trivet (the one that comes with your InstaPot) if you want to keep the contents out of the water. It really doesn’t have any legs. Still, it fits fine in my 6Qt Ultra. And I like Red. It makes it easy to find.

Great little steamer basket that fits my Instant Pot Duo 7 in 1, 2024, 6 quart. I’ve used it many times for making steamed potatoes, eggs, and meats. I like that it’s collapsible for easy storage inside the instant pot.

In all, I really like it, as it is well made and serves the purposes I bought it for. I first bought this basket to cook potatoes in for mashed potatoes or potato salad in my Instant Pot and it works great for that. It lets me strain out the water after the cooking is done. I have also used it as a colander and was great for that too. Lastly, it doesn’t take up too much room, as it collapses to save space.

I have a 6.5qt. Foodi 14 in 1. I have tried several other silicone steamers + a wire basket. This is the best! The basket is not a snug fit & there’s a reason. The bottom is a bit smaller & tapers down in size. It is adjustable which is a big plus. At first I didn’t like the tapered bottom until I figured out it worked & fit perfectly with the bottom ring collapsed & the stainless steel rack sits on top & then legs fit easily around the steamer bottom. It was exactly what I was looking for.I like to cook two layer meals.. The reversible stainless rack fits easily underneath this steamer with it collapsed 1 level. I steam veggies in the steamer & cook fish on the rack. It works great. That not the case with the other silicone or wire steamers I tried.It folds flat to store. Cleans easily. No odor. It’s a bit thicker than others & isn’t floppy or flimsy feeling. I’ve used it to air fry on high heat with no problems. The handle feels sturdy. It’s definitely worth the extra $$.
