    Works great.
I heard the difference the moment I played a song from my MP3 player. Will use this primarily for travel.

Great headphone for a great value
A lot review seem to compare this to the Sony XM5 and while the XM5 has better features and ANC, at half the price, Cleer Alpha is a great alternative.I’ve had the headphones for a couple days and am constantly impressed how great it is considering the price point. ANC is pretty good and the mic quality is better than most headphones I’ve used. Sound quality is also great though you will definitely need to install the app to change the settings as the original Sound out of the box is a bit tiny.Pros:- Great build. Solid construction. Detachable magnetic earcups.- Great mic quality- Well designed – probably one of the best looking headphones in the market-Overall sound is great even though bass can be lacking. The Dirac virtuo option is particularly great.Cons:- App is a bit finicky to use. Not as much customization as it could have- It is heavier than some other headphones our there- Bass is not as strong as others

    They are okay
Noise cancellation is good, very bulky, far more than my Bose. The spatial sound is why I bought them, the spatial sound is just okay

    Great all around
The Cleer Audio Alpha Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones have been a game-changer for flying. They’re incredibly comfortable to wear for extended periods, making long flights much more enjoyable. The noise-cancelling feature works exceptionally well, drowning out the ambient noise of the airplane engines and allowing me to focus on my music or movies. Plus, they don’t mess up my curly hair! Overall, these headphones are a fantastic investment for frequent flyers or anyone looking for top-notch noise-cancelling capabilities. Highly recommend!

    Creaks
These headphones creak. There is also no way to disable the touch controls.

In looking for a quality over ear headphone listening experience, I discovered the Cleer Alpha Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones. They are of quality construction and include a hard-shell zipper carrying case. I chose the Midnight Blue color, which is very attractive. As the product name implies, the Alpha headphones offer excellent noise cancelling. I tested them around a number of noise sources with superior results. I’m sure these would be perfect for use on an airplane or commuter train. There are three settings, Ambient Noise Control, Noise Cancellation plus a Smart Noise Cancellation setting, which automatically adjusts levels depending on the surrounding noise level.Using the Cleer+ app allows you to control all settings, including the noise control and noise cancellation settings and set the EQ, including a smart “Dirac Virtuo” spatial audio setting for an immersive sound and natural listening experience. These headphones are very comfortable to wear, both with a full range of head size adjustment. I also didn’t find my ears sweating, even with prolonged use.The app also reports the battery life, which claims 35 hours of use with Bluetooth and Noise Reduction enabled,Bluetooth setup was easy and the Alpha headphones support pairing two devices. I easily switched between my phone and laptop by just pausing and resuming audio feeds. While listening to a feed on my laptop, I can answer a call from my phone by just tapping the right headphone twice, then when the call ends my laptop content will continue to play from where it left off! With dual mics, the call voice quality is excellent. What is “cool” about these Alpha headphones is if you need to interrupt what you are listening to, just lift the right side from your head and it will instantly pause that you are listening; place the right side back over your ear, it resumes what you are listening to. By tapping your palm against the right ear, it reduces the volume and reduces the noise cancellation so as to engage in a conversation, tap again restores it. Sliding your finger up and down over the right-side acts as volume control. When powered off the Alpha headphones will operate when plugged into an audio source with a 3.5mm audio cable, which is included. Plugging in the headphones to recharge will turn off the headphone power.I recommend the Cleer Alpha Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones to any audiophile looking for a high-quality flexible over ear headphone with multiple noise cancelling setting options.

I’ve had a lot of headphones. Some really good ones (for consumer-average audiophile grade). I had some Sony XM4 over ears, SoundCore Space Q45, Fiil T1 Pro, Liberty 3 Pro, TaoTronics Soundsurge 90, Earfun Free 2 and the best ones I’ve had were the Bang & Olufsen H9.That said these are quite good hanging well with most of those mentioned and some of them are much more expensive, especially when on sale. The ANC works pretty well. Not up to Sony or Bose QC standards but those are class leaders and much more $. Their passive noise isolation does a lot to help that though. They have a real solid more weighty build and will block out a lot already as-is without ANC on.Pass through mode is pretty impressive. It’s adjustable and has almost no perceivable hiss or digitized effect but yet sounds come through very well and it’s adjustable 1 to 10 levels which is a great perk. They’re very comfortable. I always have slight soreness on my outer ears after longer usage sessions but these do it the least. They have a pretty even and flat tuning. Maybe very slightly V shaped but less than most headphones will try to pass off. There’s some nice low end sub extension that some headphones lack too much of but bass is generally slightly on the mellow side for bassheads like me and probably slightly strong for more true audiophile taste flat preference listeners. Highs are good and crisp I would say very slightly sibilant (shrillness) for people sensitive to that as I am. I was able to eq it down pretty easily with Viper4Android. Didn’t take much a few db down dip in the 2.5k-5k range.AptX adaptive certainly helps with the quality so I would recommend using on Android if you can. I don’t get why Apple is so behind on codecs and audio in general (aside from forcing their own to buy their own of course). Windows lacks it too but that’s a hardware issue for them. You can buy an adapter if you really want it on a PC/laptopI find the Dirac Virtuo soundstage widening effect actually does work pretty well. It seems to shine best with rock/indie/country types of music but in general makes a nice difference and doesn’t sound fake and heavily reverbed like I was expecting. It does add a more widened and live feel especially once you’ve been wearing them for a little while and you start to feel them less, you can sort of forget they’re on and sometimes feel almost like you’re at a live show!

TLDR: These headphones sound fine. The features are good. Call quality is excellent. They do have quality control issues so keep that in mind. Overall for value, 4/5 because they’re over priced and would be good value for $150-180. But because of the quality control issues, I’d give it a 3/5.I recently bought the Enduro ANC from Cleer after watching reviews. I already owned the soundcore Q30’S and was looking for something to upgrade to. The soundcore are great bang for the buck. If you’re looking for sub $100 ANC headphones, go for the Q30’s. I bought the endruos assuming they’d be better but the differences were only better in some regards, unfortunately not in sound quality. The Ambient mode was better for sure. ANC was lacking. Loved the fact it was consistent in all the modes though. Big plus. But wasn’t enough for me to keep. Also had an issue with a buzzing when using the Aptx Adaptive. Went away when I used the Aptx HD Audio instead codec. Weird issue but eh. Ended up returning them. Now for the Alphas. These do sound better than the Enduros. They still suffer from being VERY closed back and sound separation is lacking. But these are closed back headphones so like, it’s not a big deal. However, when my soundcore Q30’S we’re 60 when I got them on sale and they have more separation, I think these have some work to do even with the equalizer that I fiddled with for an hour or so. The best way I can summarize these headphones for sound is simply, as the name implies, clear lol. You can hear everything without anything being muddled or like you’re missing something. But it comes at a cost. There isn’t really anything this headphone does that’s amazing in terms of sound. The bass is present but it’s not going to rumble, nor would kick drums make much of an impact if you’re listening to some heavy music. It will suffice for most people but it’s simply not for bassheads for sure. The mids are fine but again, nothing spectacular. I do wish there was a bit more “sparkle” when listening to rhythm guitar but it’s at least good enough. The highs are fine too. Again, nothing to really brag about. It’s just overall, the sound is a C+. I think if they could find a way to tune their headphones to be a bit more open to some extent, maybe make the earcups even larger (they’re already noticeably bigger than the Enduros) could help.On to comfort. They’re comfy. The pads are soft, I think they’re a good size. The clamping force is a little strong for my taste but nothing overbearing like some other headphones are. The extra cushion on the top was a GREAT call and made helped a lot in terms of comfort compared to their Enduros. I do think they could be a little bigger in terms of the length of the arms so they can accommodate big noggins like mine. My head basically fits just right on the largest setting. But I also have a big head so maybe it’s just a me problem lol. I think they should consider using a different hinge for the next variant because it creaks and it’s annoying whenever I turn my head. Overall, I’d give comfort an A-.Now I’d like to talk about the BEST part of these headphones. The other features. The ANC is pretty good in my opinion. I do wish it was more adjustable how the Enduros were in the App but it’s pretty good. I don’t own the Sony XM 4s so I can’t compare but it’s better than the soundcore especially since the music doesn’t shift when I change between the modes. It sounds the same in ambient, noise cancelling or off settings. Its a big deal in my view so I love that they managed to be consistent with that. The ambient mode is awesome. Sounds so natural and I can hear everything around me very well with low volume.I think the call quality deserves its own paragraph because it’s amazing. I’ve owned like 8 different pairs of wireless headphones and earbuds. Every pair, my partner said I sounded like sh*t lol. Minus this one. She said I actually sounded fine using them. I used discord and regular cell service and she said I sounded fine. It’s the first time anyone has said that for my wireless devices and that tells me they really weren’t kidding about the mic quality on these. I give them an A+ for call quality. Features in general, A so that’s the best part. Now for the Quality control issues. Let’s go back to the Enduros for a second. Remember the weird crackling or buzzing sound I mentioned when I used the Aptx Adaptive? I have the same issue with these new Alphas. Keep in mind, for the Enduros, the buzzing with Aptx Adaptive only lasted like 3 hours and somehow it fixed itself and the buzzing left. I don’t know if it was some weird break in period with the codec?? I never heard of that being the case but it did go away on its own. For the Alphas, the first pair had that issue. As I was fiddling with the eq, the right ear cup squealed like the brakes of an 18 wheeler lmao. 20 minutes later the right ear cup was dead. I wanted to give them another try so I ordered the replacement. Had the replacement for a day or so as of the posting of this review and it has the same Aptx Adaptive issue with the buzzing. It hasn’t squealed yet so that’s good and it still works just fine. However, as I mentioned previously, the creaking on the ear cups when I turn my head is distracting and annoying. For $250, these are the kind of issues one shouldn’t have to deal with. If these didn’t have the quality control issues I think they’d be good for $150-180 max. $250 they are over priced. Even with the amazing call quality. But with the quality control issues, I don’t know, it’s a risk but I can’t deny these headphones have a really good set of features that work well and for decent sound. But it’s ashame they can’t deliver in build quality.

I got these primarily for Working from Home, hoping the microphones would work better for meetings, etc. They do work pretty well for that use case. I have not had any issues with the multipoint functionality (phone + PC connected simultaneously). There appears to be some sound leakage though, as my family tells me they can sometimes hear the other end of calls, which may be a deal-breaker long-term. They also cause a bit of discomfort after many hours of continuous use though, which is mainly why I didn’t give these five stars. That being said – the sound from these over Bluetooth is very good. What listening I’ve done of music has been very pleasant. I don’t hear any sibilance or obvious voids in music. Bass is full, but not over-emphasized. Tiny musical details are heard, both in quiet and loud passages. That’s making me go back and listen to music I haven’t heard in a long time, just for fun. I don’t hear any distortion or hiss. I’m using AptX codec with my Android phone with fairly high sampled MP3s, but my phone doesn’t have support for high-bitrate or low-latency Aptx flavors. The Dirac audio expansion adds a nice lift to the sound most of the time. Not sure it’s as wide a sound stage as I was expecting from it though. The sound stage never really feels like it’s “outside of my head” with or without Dirac enabled. But sound with Dirac enabled is still natural and pleasant. I’ve been leaving it turned on, just for fun.Plugging in to the analog input also sounds very good, but obviously no longer supports EQ or Dirac features from the Cleer App. Analog audio still works great with the headphones powered off though, which is cool.Voice prompts can be a little loud at times. I wish there was a setting to adjust the levels for those. The build quality and finish are very good, and so far the gesture based controls have not been too tricky to get used to. The precise swipe position for pausing playback or answering a call is something that takes some practice to get used to though. My point of comparison reference for audio quality is a pair of Jabra headphones. These Cleer headphones do sound a bit better than those, but not sure yet if the differences were big enough to be worth the cost of purchasing these or not (and I got these Cleer phones on sale). The Jabra headset is lighter and causes less discomfort after long usage, so they may end up being my go-to for work after all. But I’m still liking these Cleer headphones overall.Edit 03/31/2023 – I still like and use these Cleer headphones, but just thought I would add that I occasionally hear interference on Bluetooth sound from either phone or PC when I’m holding and using my phone. Not sure if the phone’s wi-fi is causing interference or what, but it’s an occasional annoyance. I have also had had occasional reports that I suddenly sound “like a robot” in meetings – possibly another indicator of signal interference or something.

I wish there were more people talking about these. I was very pleased to discover this brand and these headphones. For the price especially, what you get is extremely decent. The sound quality is good, and the headset is comfortable to wear. The build is solid and the materials feel like quality. Nothing feels cheap. The noise cancelling could stand to be a tad better and some sound does bleed out of them a bit, but neither are bad and I’d still say the noise cancelling is solid if not stupendous. I especially personally get a lot of traction out of the ability to toggle in and out of conversation mode with a palm touch. It’s come in very handy when I need to talk to my wife while I’m listening to something. Aesthetically these are probably the prettiest headphones I’ve personally owned. I had a hard time picking between the two colors, and they look even better in person. The one thing I could say is I wish there were a few more color options, though I’m very happy with the midnight blues I went with. Overall it’s a solid buy and definitely a smart purchasing decision if you want something beefy under $300. Will definitely keep my eye on this brand in the future. For now, I think my headphone situation is gonna be set for a while.
