I bought this witchy thing moons ago when I dreamt of autumn and it’s finally cool enough for me to cook with it without dying of heat stroke. When I first got it, I felt around the inside and it felt a bit rough, which I was a little concerned about, so I waited until I had actually experience using it before I left a review. And it’s fine! I didn’t add any additional seasoning to the cauldron. I thought about doing it then eyeballed the clearances of my oven and decided not to try it. And I had not a single issue sautéing the veggies for my soup! Now, my soup is simmering away and the cauldron is doing great.Worth a mention is that the cauldron came, not only, with a lid but a great little grabber for the lid which you would absolutely want with a live fire cast iron cooking vessel. And in addition to that, it also came with a nice carrying case that fits cauldron, lid, and lid grabber very well. I bought this cauldron to use in my fireplace, but if I want to take it camping some day, it will be extremely easy to transport. In addition, the carrying case actually makes it easier to slide the cauldron and it’s accessories into my cupboards. As for cleaning, I’ve washed it in my regular, white enameled sink and had no real issues as long as I’m careful to position the legs of the cauldron not to slip into the drain. It was actually easier than I thought it would be.TL;DR – I’m extremely satisfied with my cauldron. I’m extremely satisfied with the price. I would recommend this fine cooking vessel to anyone who would like to do some live fire stewin’

Was leery after reading some reviews and went back and forth for a while as I have received some pretty bad cast products in the past. This pot is more than usable it’s actually pretty nice and heavy duty. It arrived well boxed and in great shape. The factory seasoning was pretty good, maybe just slightly tacky on the outside but after a good scrub with a pretty harsh cleaning powder and copper pad I was surprised how well the seasoning was still there and a lil rub of lard and a buff to remove as much as I could I seasoned upside down on my outdoor burner. Let cool n repeated couple times and within 24 hours of receiving it was looking real good, no black residue some claimed to have experienced no sticky inside or out and a great shine. First use was five or six blocks of fresh lard and fried potatoes and then onion rings. After straining and refrigerating the lard was still beautiful creamy white. Seller was great…. An outstanding transaction and great lil pot. Will outlast me but wouldn’t hesitate to purchase if needed.

Awesome cauldron, but a few things of note –
This cauldron seems to be of good quality, about on par with my old one that was stolen by my ex. I took a gamble because another reviewer said it didn’t have the wording on it, and it didn’t which is what I wanted, so I’m happy. It does have a “2” on either side as well as the lid, but that’s standard for most cauldrons. One thing to note is that one of the legs appears to be welded on and ground pretty poorly on the inside with pits in the metal, but after seasoning it’s hardly noticable and the pits seem to have filled in nicely. One thing I didn’t realize is it actually comes with a pretty nice nylon carry bag, made of cordua with webbing handles that extend to the base of the bag. Bottom of bag has some sort of rigid wood disc, with a removable plastic disc included to prevent the legs from tearing up the bag. Also included is a very serviceable lid lifter, which I was planning on making but now I won’t have to. Not nearly as cheap as my previous one, and for the price I had hoped it wouldn’t have the aforementioned defect with the welded leg. However as I have stated previously it’s flaws are easily covered and hardly noticable once seasoned, and the outside looks nice so I can’t really complain. All in all I believe this one is roughly the same quality as my last one which sustained years of use, and I’m happy with my purchase, I just wish that for the price it didn’t have the ugly grinding and weld marks, but it sits flat and is well balanced when hanging.

Its solid and heavy duty cast-iron. The finish inside is rough and will need sanded and seasoned. The lid fits nicely and the bail is sturdy. It stands very flat without any rocking at all. The first one we received had a broken leg that had cracked off during shipping. (Not the sellers fault) We contacted them and they sent a return label and shipped a new one immediately. Top notch service. It is rough and though it appears to be seasoned it will need refinished. Very few people these days know how to properly prepare cast iron. High end cooking iron costs a lot because it requires a hand finish. This one is great for the price but will benefit from a thorough interior sanding and seasoning. It takes a long time and is a pain but in the end its worth it. Foundries have been making these pots for hundreds of years. They are still just as useful now as they were in centuries past. It also includes a very nice cast lid and a serviceable lid lifter that works well. Ill make a different one but the one that comes with it is very tough.
