The best “spiralizer” for harder raw vegetables – like a potato, squash wedge etc. It makes them into vermicelli noodles!
Well designed, light weight, “spiralizer” to make vermicelli size to regular spaghetti size noodles out of “hardier” stubby cuts of raw starchy vegetables including: potatoes, sweet potatoes, yam, squash. The vertical design (pushing the vegetable down against the blade) is much better than the horizontal designs of most other “spiralizers”, that keep dropping the vegetable and leave a core. This just leaves a small cap of the vegetable, which I just chop vertically and use.It is lightweight and, as such, travelled very well in my suitcase. Living out of a suitcase for weeks at a time in hotels (with mini fridge & microwave) and requiring satisfying, nutritious, sustaining meals that have a lower glycemic carbohydrate, some animal protein and a lot of vegetables, all I had to do was “spiralize” a red potato (or sweet potato or wedge of squash, etc.), microwave it on high for 5 minutes and then add colourful raw vegetables and some cooked turkey (or worse case scenario – tuna).

Cheap materials, not worth the money
I bought this item based on reviews that said that it was quality workmanship and worth the money. Not sure what they are talking about. It is a cheap item made of plastic that weighs next to nothing. The blades are of course stainless steel. There is not even a place to store the extra blades. It is attached to the leg of the unit with an elastic band. My husband who knows manufacturing materials said that it probably cost a few dollars to make it. And they are charging 70.00 in Canada for it. Even if it works well, it is not worth the money. I am returning it. I would recommend buying if it was 20.00 or less.

Dreadful machine…to be avoided.
Dreadful machine, very expensive for what it is. Makes very thin spirals that retain a lot of liquid. Not very appetizing. Tried to return to Amazon but was stymied. Apparently, once you purchase this product you are stuck with it. Would not recommend to anyone.

Great results but hard to use
I have used the Benriner Slicer several times since I got it but found it really hard on my hand and arm. I found it not easy to keep slicer steady while pushing down the vegetables for a seamless cut. Given the fatigue to my hand, I would not be able to use it to prepare food for more than two. It certainly produced real nice cut food that looked appetizing. In fact, the different cuts brought out the best in root vegetables and enhanced the joy of eating them. The ultra thin slicing made raw beet much more edible than when cut with knife or mandolin. I will recommend it to anyone who wants to take out the monotony of eating blah knife cut veggies!

My favorite tool for Thai sauté!
I like it very much and use it regularly.First, it’s important to select properly the blade according to each type of vegetable: The more there is water in the vegetable the bigger the blade you have to use. For example, carrots (you need larger diameter ones) are great with smallest blade (vermicelli), but for a daikon, I find the medium blade is preferable to avoid the vegetable to release water)Positive:- It makes long thin noodles, which I find perfect for Thai sauté (sizes are: 1mm, 2.5mm and 4mm)- Good quality nylon plastic, made in Japan. – I was hesitant due to reviews saying it’s sturdy, but on contrary I find this plastic to be stronger thant other type of spiralizer I’ve seen (especially the pins that hold the vegetable in place). Also, no smelly cheap plastic parts which is a must for me.- The handle is part metal (not colored plastic)- Very rapid to wash. (I use a toothbrush for the blades).Negative:- Just wish they would update the design of the base for more stability and handling. (I have fibromyalgia, so this might not be an issue for most people)

I was skeptical, but this is amazing!
I was hesitant to purchase this, as almost $70 is a lot for a gadget, and I never really loved zucchini, only tolerated it breaded and deep fried. I am SO glad I took a chance! It shipped the afternoon I ordered it, and arrived in 3 days, I live in northern BC, and this NEVER happens! Oh, it works great too… Made zucchini pasta, and have used it on spaghetti and in stir fry. I will never buy regular spaghetti noodles again! I’ve made sweet potato hash browns and shredded carrot with this too, but it was worth it just for the zucchini pasta! Great for low-carb alternatives to pasta! In the 4 months since I got this I’ve eaten more zucchini than I have in the past 36 years! I only wish amazon sold replacement blades… I dread the day I need to find some.

Allerdings muss man größere Gemüse natürlich in passende Stücke schneiden.

Creates lovely noodles of various sizes. Good for disguising vegetables as noodles, my children did not know the difference, when I put in soup instead of pasta noodles!
