Here are the reasons why I LOVE this
We just upgraded to this from the google mini (we hated it) for so many reasons so this is a big upgrade and so much better and here are the reasons :1.) the sound quality is amazing compared to the google mini, example of the sound in the video2) I have an iPhone and my husband has a google phone so anytime my husband would ask something to the google mini, it would always get confused with his phone and the phone would answer. So we love this Amazon echo so much more bc there’s no confusion and Alexa responds back instantly (and so much faster than the google mini) so it’s helpful for those that are a bit impatient like myself3) I love that the camera on it has a sliding cover option so that you don’t have to have the camera on ever (it just has a little slide button that moves the cover over top of the camera)4) has recipes and news and just fun things always up on the screen, I also love that you can personalize what shows on the screen when it’s not in use (ie playing music) so you can customize it to have your pictures filter through, I have random “travel” pictures filter through that was an option (just google travel photos so they have lots of other options of different topics if you don’t want your own pictures to cycle through)5) I LOVE the size. I thought originally it was going to be bigger but I honestly love the size, it’s perfect. I included the size in my photo (about 5.5 inches across) and then the speaker goes back quite far (about 3.5 inches) so it’s VERY sturdy, doesn’t seem fragile at all6) and lastly I love that it connects to our BLINK cameras – not a downside or anything but the cameras do take a second to load 5-10 seconds) before they come up and they are about 5-10 seconds behind. Not a big deal. It’s a nice feature and one of the main reasons why we got this upgrade. If you’re a Spotify user I will mention it took SOME TIME to set it up. The directions did not help, nothing was working. It took both my husband and I taking turns and trial and error to fix it. I also looked at the reviews on google and lots of people do find it tricky to add Spotify to their Echo Show 5 (3rd edition) so this specific one – we had to log out of it on my phone and my husband logged in and out and did it on his google phone to get it to set up. So it is tricky but it is possible to get it set up and connected.I have no complaints other than Spotify being a tad tricky to set up (but thankfully we figured it out as we are big Spotify users and love our music and podcasts). 10/10 recommend this product. I’m a happy and satisfied customer with this product so thank you!

This little thing is “crazy good”
I waited a long time before getting into Echos. Recently, when I was laid up following an accident and having trouble walking, I saw the big promotions and decided to see if Alexa could help. I started with this model which proved impossible to get working. Amazon Support quickly sent me a replacement which took about 5 minutes to set up and is becoming my new Best Friend. I love this thing! While I teach Alexa what I want, I also learn how to make her work for me, so there is a bit of a learning curve. I got past the basics (music, timers, reminders …) which were delightful enough, and then into Routines. I already have a whole list, and boy, do I ever appreciate what she does.I bought more products while they were on sale and in Bundles, so I now have several Echos, smart lights, plugs, and cameras. I can control lights, heaters, and music in several rooms, and check my porch cameras, all with Alexa.I let the dogs out and when they return to the door, I get a notification. What a relief not to have to keep checking. I am told when an Amazon package has arrived. My morning Wake Up is a delight. I could go on.One thing was disappointing and that is I ordered an Echo Show 8 which was not delivered on time and, it turns out, will not arrive for some time to come. I would cancel the order except that I now absolutely ‘need’ that one in my kitchen. Luckily, it was a good price and in view of how much I like the other products, it will be worth waiting for.Wow. I do have great help, and that should be the end of it. But no. I find myself checking on Echo promotions. Who knows? I might even end up with something else.

A good value at Prime Day prices.
I bought this to respond to ring notifications from my desk. It works perfectly fine for that function. Anything else on top of that is a bonus for my use case. For this to be worth $120, you would have to be all in on the Amazon smart home features. At $60, it is fine as a dystopian alarm clock that allows me to monitor my door and listen to November Rain by Guns N’ Roses on demand using my voice, or to put on a random podcast episode.I would not normally use this for music on a regular basis because I have other speakers, so I am less concerned about the overall quality of the speaker in this device. I tested out the audio quality, and it would be fine for most people who aren’t interested in higher end audio gear. In that regard, you shouldn’t expect audio quality beyond your typical desktop computer speaker. It is a 5 inch device after all. The impressive part about the speaker is how loud it can get. I can throw on a podcast from one side of the room and continue working elsewhere. There are two things that would make this device significantly better.1) An audio output. Ideally, both a digital and standard output. If a selling point of this device is that it can be used with Amazon Music, a digital output would go a long in to increase the appeal of the device. The inclusion of a digital output would allow audio enthusiasts to plug this directly into desktop headphone DAC/AMP setups, or to their stereo/home theatre receivers.2) An internal battery and USB-C charging compatibility. The only possibly upside I can think of to using a proprietary charger is that not all USB-C chargers are made equally, and it lowers the chance that someone who is not informed of that will roast the device with a poorly made charger. Otherwise, it’s always more ideal for devices to use USB-C whenever possible, since it minimizes the need for multiple plugs and chargers. Given the size of this device, I could see the appeal of using it portably around the house. An internal battery would make it much easier to do that. I get that goes against the idea of the Amazon Eco System, where you’re supposed to want a device on stand by already in each room. Still, not everybody wants to buy multiple devices to serve each room, especially at $120-$330 a piece.
