    Protection
Little too big for my small pan but perfect for the larger one. Still use it on both.

    Well made and durable !
This silicone handle is both well made and durable. I added this to my wok handle and it’s both durable and heat resistant. This handle gets lots of work on a regular basis and it hasn’t failed yet. I purchased a spare but haven’t need it so far, keeping it for another pan as required. Happy customer !

It can only handle low heat according to the instructions
Update:I have been happy with this silicone handle. It does the job. The opening is a bit flexible, so I can use it on a variety of handles. See my pics for the exact size of hole on the silicone handle to judge if it will fit your skillet handle. I include a ruler in my pics.Old review.I was surprised to find out that the instructions said that the handle can only be left on when the stovetop is on the medium/ low heat setting. I saute foods a lot, so this handle isn’t helpful if I follow the directions. I used this silicone cover anyways, and it didn’t melt. It isn’t meant to cover all handles either unfortunately. The silicone is stiff and doesn’t mold to everything. I purchased it as protection from the metal handle due to a fairly strong nickle allergy that I have. It is fairly big and doesn’t grip well to my metal handle, but it can sort of stay there.

    Works perfectly
I have a $200.00 stainless fry pan which is wonderful but the handle is too slim. As the pan is heavy I cannot hold the pan up to empty it and fabric pot holders do not help. This silicon glove does the job justperfectly. Well worth the money.

    Average quality, larger than expected.
I know it is made to accommodate many different pan and pot handles, but I still find it a little large. It feels like it will slide off unless I grip it quite hard, especially if I try to pour something by tilting the pot or pan. It does work well for what it’s intended — handling hot things! Despite the couple points above I still like having this and it’s fine for me.

    Good product
Worked well and as we hoped to.

  7. Bottom end

    a little large
Only complaint I have with this is, it’s too large and could not find one for a 6″ cast iron fry pan. But, works very well and does the job.

Good for covering up those handles of skillets that go in the oven
I have two skillets that I bought for recipes that I start on the stovetop and finish in the oven. One is the regular size and the other is a very large one I use often when making recipes that begin with frying or sauteing something on a burner and then finishing the dish in the oven, like Boeuf Bourguignon and many others. There is good reason to have this silicone handle. One is to prevent burning yourself if you were to touch the metal handle. The other is that I used to throw an oven mitt on the handle but then I would begin to look for my other mitt forgetting it was on the pan. This item fit the smaller pan easily but took some strength to pull onto the larger pan. Of course, the pan should not go in the oven with the hot skillet handle on. I imagine that would melt and make quite a mess of your oven.

I have two cast iron frying pans and a griddle pan. I love using these because the results turn out so good, however as any cast iron user will know, the pans become impossible to pick up without something like an oven glove. Well this little silicon holder fixes that. It gets hottish when a pan has been left on the hob to get hot, but it’s easily manageable, i.e. you can pick it up.It’s quite large so will slide on to a handle, although not so large that if I’ve left it until the pan is hot to put it in place, I need something to hold the opposite edge of the pan so that the holder will slide on. The only slight warning I’d offer is that often cast iron pans do not appear to generally have long handles, and this holder is obviously designed to cater for the longest. This means that there’s a small danger that if you don’t pick up the pan well towards the pan edge, i.e. where the handle is inside the holder, you could end up not holding on to much of the handle. I’m aware of this so it’s never happened to me and I’m more than happy that I can now use my pans without having to remember to put on an oven glove every time I want to touch them.

I’ve been using these for years, and the cloth ones for decades. And I have to laugh at a lot of the poor reviews of this device. It is painfully obvious users are misusing the product and then giving it a poor review. So let’s start with some basics.#1. Silcone handle covers are meant to be used light a form fitted oven mitt. NOT a permanent piece of the handle. Slide it on, move the pan, slide it off. If you leave it ON the pan especially in the oven, it WILL get hot, and may likely melt a bit. Just don’t do that.#2. Silicone handle covers REDUCE heat transfer from the CI handle, they do NOT eliminate it. You may still want to wrap the handle a bit with a cloth to further reduce the heat transfer. Now having said that, I have a 10.5″ Outdoor Gourmet cast iron skillet I bought for camp cooking when I was single that my wife has absconded for the house… The handle is slightly different shape and size from the Lodge castings, so fit was a concern. And as expected, this cover is a bit loose on the handle, but does grip well, and he ribbed inside allows for heat to move away from the hand fairly efficiently. When used on the house stove, and / or camp stove, the cover stays cool while cooking even when left on. However do NOT use the handle while cooking in the oven or directly over the camp fire, remove and place back on as needed in those circumstances.Overall this replaced a Lodge cover that failed after years of use, and I can honestly say, this appears to be of roughly the same quality and usability of the Lodge unit. Just use it correctly and you’ll be fine.
