  1. Fake Name

Good casting, good seasoning, good price, uninspired design
Edit 3, deleted previous edits: My sincere apologies to Amazon. Apparently the first use of these pots may have coincided with some sort of change in my water quality. I still don’t like there being EPS foam in the packaging it appears that the strange foam that boiled out of them at extended high heat was from my water and NOT contamination from the packing foam. In spite of looking extremely similar. I do however still hope they stop using EPS foam packing as cardboard and paper alone is fine. I’ve invited them to reverse the refund. My town will be testing my water to try and figure out why this happened. So sorry, great pots, glad they helped me expose this issue with contamination or softening agents or whatever. End edit. It’s a relatively good casting in terms of the fineness and detail. It’s got good fresh slick seasoning on it though of course it needs more seasoning and cooking to break in both the surface and the iron itself. The price is good and there are few it any comparable size cast iron pots near this price and none I found with an iron lid. The price point is why I’m giving this 5 stars cause there is nothing better for that money right now I don’t think unless it’s on sale. You should check prices yourself at the time of purchase and compare to other products.A tip on quickly seasoning the bottom only: Spread oil in bottom, put in water and boil on max for a while. The oil on the bottom will polymerize super well and super fast without smoking. You can’t do it at that high heat without smoking otherwise. However it only works for the interior bottom cause the sides and lid and outside won’t get hot enough. Maybe putting water inside in the oven can allow faster seasoning without smoking also though? I’m not sure about this I only know for sure on the burner. The pot is light weight, relatively thin casting compared to more expensive competitors. This means it will heat faster BUT it won’t spread heat as well, retain heat as well or radiate heat as well because of this. It may also be slightly less durable than a thicker heavier product. It also likely makes it cheaper to ship. Personally I’d prefer a little bit heavier weight but there are also arguments to be made in favor of light weight so it’s nice to have a diversity of heavier and lighter iron pots if you can afford a full arsenal. My real gripe with this otherwise very fine and affordable cast iron product that promises to bring cast iron to the masses at a cost they can afford is the design. It’s very simple and mostly practical sure. Personally though I find it a bit uninspired. Also printing the brand name on the bottom in raised letters would seem impractical and less energy efficient for any stove top except gas even with a thick heat ring around it to even out the base on the element and prevent rocking.. Double Dutch (skillet or sometimes grill lid) ovens are fairly common specially in the 5qt size. Lids which recycle moisture more effectively with spikes, rings or grill lines in the case of a grill lid are also relatively common. Given that the designs are out there and open source like the wheel I think they should have taken inspiration from them and used either a double dutch with grill (recycles moisture better but not as common a cooking surface), griddle or skillet lid design OR at least some spikes or rings on the lid to recycle moisture more effectively. Also I think they should have printed the name on the side rather than the base and left the base completely flat and maybe a little bit thicker like it is around the heat ring. Printing it on the base effects the cooking and efficiency, printing on the side should be purely cosmetic AND more visible. So in short I don’t think it would cost them any extra to make a double dutch oven with skillet/griddle lid out of this with 2 loop handles on the lid at the sides instead of the one on top and a totally flat base with the name on the side. It would deliver even better value to customer though. It would be amazing to have this on the 2qt and 7qt models as well as the 5qt because you can’t as easily find those sizes in double dutch ovens here in Canada, usually only 5qt in seasoned cast iron and sometimes 6-7qt in enameled if you pay a lot for it. Basically a better design would deliver better value at no additional cost.My top design choices (all with flat base and name on side) in order of best to worst would be:1. double dutch oven with skillet/griddle lid, same moisture recycling as current.2. double dutch oven with grill texture lid for better moisture recycling but less common for cooking.3. regular pot with spiked, ringed or otherwise textured lid for better moisture recycling.4. as it is now.Dear Amazon I hope you listen to this and you are free to use my feedback on this freely.

    Small, But Useful
. . . a great little, very affordable Dutch oven designed for 1 or 2 people . . . came seasoned, but I re-seasoned it anyway to produce a pretty much stick-free cooking vessel . . . has all of the characteristics of cast iron cookware, but is quite light in weight . . . tonnes of uses, from baking single loaf breads to making Johnny cake, to soups, to small roasts, sausages, chilies, and the like . . . very easy to clean, and the cast iron lid makes it very oven useable . . . looks good on the kitchen buffet! . . . highly recommended . . .

    Best pot I own
I kept going back and forth between brands, colors etc for a Dutch oven. Many people who have the enamel painted ones complain about the enamel coming off. This was a huge deterrent for me. This one may not be as “pretty”, but it’s simply perfect! After reading many reviews, I bit the bullet and bought this pot.I LOVE IT!! I only use cast iron pans, and now this has quickly become my new favourite pot to cook with.It heats up quickly, evenly and the lid seals perfectly! The initial seasoning was done perfectly. Anyone who complains about it “rusting” doesn’t know how to properly care for cast iron. After washing (without soap!), place it on your stove on medium/high heat until all the water evaporates. Then add some oil to re-season it, wipe the oil evenly around the inside of the pot with paper towel & remove from heat. This pot is definitely true cast as it is very heavy, but this also helps when it comes to the heat being evenly distributed around the pot. It would also work very well on an induction range! If you end up with some rust, a little light steel wool and water and it’ll come right off. These are pans you will hand down to generations!Buy it!

    Seasoned, solid construction
Solid construction, pre seasoned and a heavy duty pot, except for the logo on the bottom of the pot which will scratch stove tops and have balance issues unless its used for camping, the 7 qt pot is a family size, comes with a heavy duty lid, perfect for simmering, baking and similar cooking. Wish the lid was also a skillet – that would have been perfect and a 5 star rated pot but otherwise its a life time buy which will last especially if its seasoned before use though the pre seasoning is not bad. Works best on medium heat, well heated before adding the oil for cooking and takes a wash with mild detergent and thorough drying to store without rust issue.

Great cast iron at a great price
Anyone that has experience with cast iron can tell the bad reviews are just people that have not owned cast iron before and/or did not season it. You have to season the cast iron when it comes to you, and preferably do it a few times. I did it 5 times and then I cooked spaghetti sauce for 5 hours in it. Now some of the seasoning started to flake as spaghetti sauce is acidic and removes the seasoning, but I just scrubbed it and seasoned it a couple more times and it was good. In fact all I have cooked in this pot is spaghetti sauce which a lot of people say is a no no. I just reseason the pot again right after, maybe 2-3 times since this is new and voila it is good to go again. Over time the seasoning will build up more and more and eventually I will only have to do it once after spaghetti or maybe not at all for other foods that are easier on the seasoning. Cast iron just takes some time to build seasoning up and over time only gets better. The bad reviews either did not season it or left it out after cooking and/or cleaning without seasoning. As soon as you finish cooking, clean the pot while still warm and DRY it immediately, then season and it will last you a lifetime. Dry the pot by hand then heat it up in your stove before applying the oil as the heat will remove any moisture within the metal. Oil it up and put it in the oven for 1 hour at a temp just above the smoke point of your oil. Great pot, and I am glad I gave them a chance.

I always wanted a iron pot like this one. I first cooked pasta and water boiled so fast. I also cooked chicken soup and cooking time was shorter than cooking in a stainless steel pot. I feel the iron pot absorbs much more heat and cook faster. The quality is very good. I always wash and oil my pot to prevent rust. Price was reasonable. Right size pot for me. I like to cook small meals. I can even bake in this pot. So versatile.

    Pequeño pero muy bueno

  8. MiBo
