I used it on a roast and it performed very well indeed but it would have been nice to be able to lower the temperature below 140 degrees for the meat.

Lasted less than 2 years. I have all clad pots and pans, love them but this failed mid tenderloin roast..

Didn’t even last a year.
Our experience mirrors that of other reviewers on the Amazon dot com site. The thermometer has always been buggy and occasionally inaccurate, and after less than a year of use, the wire on the probe started to fray. Now it no longer works, period. You cannot buy replacement parts from All-Clad, so the only option is to purchase another $70 thermometer. No thanks. Will try a cheaper option this time around.

I have tried multiple meat thermometers and I think this is the best. You can select the type of meat and also the amount done and it will show you what temperature you need to reach. I find that very helpful.

This is the 2nd unit I purchased, the first one which I got was from Willams Sonoma (which from what I recall was overpriced). I had the original unit for a number of years until it failed, hence replaced it with the new unit from Amazon, which worked perfectly at first. The reason I won’t give it 5 stars is because the 1st one that failed was due to the wire insulation getting brittle and cracking which exposed the wire it protected underneath, and All-Clad REFUSING to sell me a replacement probe ! Through the years I wrapped electrical tape in those exposed areas and the unit worked flawlessly for a very long time. Eventually when this thermometer failed, I purchased a new one from Amazon. The new unit worked perfectly again at first. (The old thermometer by the way works perfectly as well AS LONG AS I USED THE NEW WIRE PROBE !) Therefore the failure of that first unit was due to the wire finally failing permantently, not the unit itself., 2nd one same failure issue. I had always checked to make sure when closing the oven door that the wire was as far away as possible from the heating element. Regardless, that insulation will eventually get brittle and crack then it fails !!! I would be great if the insulation was a braided metal covering instead of the vinyl type covering, but All-Clad apparently hopes you purchase a new one – big mistake. With ths product All-Clad = All-Crap
