Fits my 3 qt. All Clad pots perfectly. Same excellent quality.
It is difficult to find a double boiler. Although I wish I could find one for my 2 qt. saucepan, this will work fine.

This is another piece of quality cook ware from All-Clad. Top drawer.
I only use All-Clad pots and pans. Years of using thin, poorly designed pots and pans made me realize I needed an upgrade. No regrets buying and using All-Clad. Ever.

love All-Clad
Already own the 3 and 4 quart sauce pans and needed a double boiler insert for melting chocolate, making homemade mayonnaise, and other delicate sauces.

Quality as usual for All-Clad
I had been looking for this for a long time and finally got it to match my other D5 All-Clads. Works as it should, fits nicely in my pots with just enough room for water vapor to escape.

Had the steamer for the pot and wanted the double boiler. It’s authentic All-Clad and fits the pot perfectly. We have a full set of All-Clad, and then some, and use them extensively. Its sturdy but light weight. No special handling required. Most of our pieces are over 30 years old and they are still in perfect condition. We have LeCreuset and Mauviel, also, but All-Clad is the go-to cookware.

This is a great addition to my All-Clad pots and pans. Once you hold this double boiler you will see the quality that goes into all their products. As a comparison it’s identical to the size of their steamer but obviously without the holes in the bottom. Easy to store and the covers from other All-Clad pans fit perfectly. Believe me, you will use it for more than just melting chocolate.

Works perfectly for its intended purpose: adding double boiler capacity to the 3 or 4 quart All-Clad sauce pan that you already own. It’s responsive, fairly easy to clean, and should last forever. There are a lot of reviews here from disappointed purchasers who feel that All-Clad has compromised their standards with this double boiler.A few thoughts…While this pan insert is extremely well-made from heavy-duty stainless, it’s much lighter than other All-Clad pans that are designed to be placed directly on the stove BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO BE. A double boiler insert has to be responsive to gentle steam heat, hence the single wall that is less thick than D3 or D5 or Copper Core. It’s a feature not a defect. The double boiler insert is made from non-magnetic stainless steel, i.e., can’t be used directly on induction burners, and is more resistant to oxidation than 18/10 stainless which works with induction. It isn’t designed EVER to be used as a single pan, but only to be inserted in other All-Clad pans. So again, this is a feature not a defect. The stainless handle is shorter than the handles on the premium All-Clad pan lines, which makes it easier to manage the two pans. Another feature that isn’t a defect. The pressed-out lip that allows the double boiler to sit inside a pan is shaped such that it is fairly easy to clean. Hard to describe, but the lip is more open on the top and that makes it easier to clean. When taking into account the specific requirements of a double boiler insert compared to a pan meant to go directly on the stove, the design, material and build quality of this insert equals that of the premium All-Clad pan lines. It is beautifully crafted from materials that will last forever.Yes, it is produced in China rather than in the States. Honestly, in a time where inflation is making it hard for working families to manage costs, All-Clad may deserve recognition for working to keep costs down on an item that would have cost more to produce in the U.S., even while they continue to produce their core three and five ply cookware lines here. Finally, for the folks who are disappointed that this double boiler insert doesn’t work well as a stand-alone 3 quart sauce pan….maybe you should have read the product description before ordering it rather than dinging it in your rating because of your own user error?

This 3 qt. All-Clad double boiler is perfect for making creamy pie fillings. I’ve found using this pot eliminates the worry of scorching with any milk, cream, candies, chocolate or caramel. For me it was a worthwhile investment and I will enjoy using it in my kitchen. The quality is superb and the pot is large enough I can make enough filling for 2 pies at once!
