Comprehending ADHD
A very informative book which I read to gain some knowledge for family members with ADHD. The book helped turn the “light on”, to understand what they have been dealing with and how to better cope with time management and organization of work and everyday life. As discussed with the family members who are dealing with ADHD on a daily basis, the strategies within the book are extremely helpful and made them feel more normal and excited about using the various techniques discussed. They also seemed to feel comforted that there was information out there to help them learn and feel hopeful to have less anxiety in dealing with ADHD. I found it very informative to a lay person who wants to know how to recognize and help others with ADHD. I know it was also helpful for the family members experiencing the frustration and sometimes helplessness of feeling alone and struggling. The truly seemed excited about the content of the book.

Book Review: Mastering ADHD by Karen Joy-Moore
I have to admit, I’ve always felt a little overwhelmed by ADHD. As an adult with this condition, I’ve tried various approaches—medication, therapy, self-help books—but nothing really clicked until I read Mastering ADHD by Karen Joy-Moore. This book, quite honestly, felt like a revelation for me!! What I appreciated most about Karen’s writing is that it doesn’t treat ADHD as a “problem” that needs to be “fixed.” Instead, she reframes it as something to be understood and mastered. From the first chapter, I felt like she truly gets it. She doesn’t sugarcoat the challenges that come with ADHD, but she also doesn’t linger on the negatives. Instead, she provides practical advice for managing the day-to-day struggles—like staying organized, dealing with distractions, and overcoming procrastination—in a way that feels achievable. She also highlights some of the positives that can come from having ADHD. I like how she also used others first hand stories to reflect on life with adhd. The book is divided into easily digestible sections that cover everything from time management to emotional regulation. One of my favorite parts was when Karen described how ADHD affects the brain, making it harder to stay focused or stay on task. She didn’t just list symptoms; she gave me a real understanding of why things happen the way they do. That clarity alone made a huge difference in how I approach my own ADHD.What really sets Mastering ADHD apart, though, is how Karen emphasizes strengths, not just weaknesses. She shows how people with ADHD often have exceptional creativity, hyperfocus, and the ability to think outside the box. For the first time, I felt encouraged to stop seeing my ADHD as a limitation and start recognizing the ways it can be an asset. That shift in perspective was incredibly empowering. I also love how practical the book is. Karen doesn’t just tell you what you “should” do; she gives you concrete steps, tools, and exercises that you can apply right away. This really helped me implement the strategies in a very hands-on way. From setting up an ADHD-friendly workspace to using timers and reminders to manage my day, the book is full of actionable advice that I can actually stick to and works! Perhaps the most powerful part of the book for me was how Karen addresses self-compassion. ADHD often comes with a lot of self-doubt, guilt, and frustration, and I’ve often found myself feeling like I’m not living up to my potential. Karen talks about the importance of being kind to yourself and understanding that ADHD is a part of who you are, but it doesn’t define your worth. That resonated deeply with me and was a much-needed reminder to be patient and forgiving with myself. In conclusion, Mastering ADHD has been a game-changer for me. It’s not just a book for managing ADHD; it’s a guide to living a fuller, more organized, and self-accepting life despite (or perhaps because of) ADHD. Karen Joy-Moore has written a book that is practical, empowering, and full of compassion. If you or someone you know has ADHD, I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s an invaluable resource for understanding, coping, and thriving with ADHD!

Great book on Mastering ADHD filled with great tips and tools not just for coping but thriving!
I recently finished reading this remarkable book Mastering ADHD that I found to be both informative and empowering. The author does an exceptional job of detailing the traits associated with ADHD, presenting the information in an easy-to-understand format. The use of personal anecdotes and stories from public figures adds a relatable dimension, illustrating how individuals with ADHD can harness their unique traits for success. Before reading this book, I had a general awareness of executive function and had developed some tools to manage my own challenges. However, this book dives deeper into the topic, providing practical strategies that are not only insightful but also actionable. The author’s approach makes it clear that managing ADHD is not just about coping; it’s about thriving.I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone with ADHD or those wanting to understand it better. It’s not just a read; it’s a resource. I plan to refer back to it throughout the year as I implement the suggested tools into my daily routine. This book has truly equipped me with the knowledge and strategies to embrace my ADHD and leverage its strengths.

As a teacher navigating ADHD in his classroom, I’ve read plenty of books that offer vague advice, but Mastering ADHD is different. It’s packed with real strategies that make a difference. I liked the parts about time-blocking, breaking down tasks, and handling emotional ups and downs in a way that actually works. The section on reducing stigma through communication templates was an eye-opening for me as a teacher and a parent.I also enjoyed the focus on strengths rather than just challenges. Tthis book helps you see ADHD in a more positive light
