Classic French cuisine meets modern technology with this Electric Dutch Oven. Simply set the programmable LCD screen digital timer and your food cooks on its own, bringing out all those delicious flavors. With 5 different cooking modes not only can you slow cook a tasty bouillabaisse, you can also braise a leg of lamb, or even sauté a mirepoix, right in the Dutch Oven without having to transfer your food to a pan. If you want to go the old-fashioned route, the insert can go on a stovetop or inside the oven for that classic technique. Made from cast iron, it retains heat longer, which is great for those all-day recipes. The cast iron lid retains heat and moisture to maintain the perfect texture and the integrated riveted handles let you take it from countertop to tabletop and use it as its own serving dish. At 5 quarts, it’s big enough to make food for a mini buffet.
REMOVABLE ENAMELED CAST IRON DUTCH OVEN: Choose where and how to cook. This cast iron dutch oven can be used on the cooktop, in an oven, and placed on the table to serve, replacing many cooking tools with just one appliance.
HOLDS 5 QUARTS OF FOOD: Enough capacity to feed all your family and friends their favorite foods.
TEMPERATURE CONTROL: Keeps food warm automatically for 4 hours after cooking is complete. The tight-fitting cast iron lid maintains the heat and moisture inside, preventing the food from drying out.
PROGRAMMABLE TIMER: 5 automatic programs (High Temp Slow Cooking, Low Temp Slow Cooking, Braise, Sauté, Simmer) plus a Manual program means you can cook anything and everything. Cook while working or even sleeping so your food is ready when you are.
CONVENIENT AND STYLISH: Premium stainless steel exterior with classic All-Clad handle and logo. The easy-to-grip pot looks beautiful on the table for serving. A clear LCD screen displays your cooking mode and time, so you can easily track the cooking process. Easy to clean and dishwasher safe pot.

Great that you can brown on the stove and then deglaze and transfer directly to the slow-cooker base w/o losing any of the flavor.

I was so excited when I ordered this, couldn’t wait for it to arrive and now I just want it gone. I have made several meals in this… or tried to and am very disappointed with the results. Had to throw out a 3 lb. roast that I thought was cooking on the Slow Cooker Low preset for 8 hours. When I lifted the lid it was in a luke warm bath and wasn’t anywhere near safe to eat as I probably had only warmed up the bacteria! Not sure what they expect you to cook in this, 3 lbs is not a large roast…it’s going back!

The All-Clad Electric Dutch Oven is an attractive appliance that will look nice stored on a countertop or kitchen cart. It is heavy and weighs in at a little over 20lbs. Storage should be taken into consideration because it’s too heavy to have to pull off bottom or top shelves whenever you want to use it, which ideally will be often. The cast iron pot can be used on gas, electric and induction stoves. The cast iron pot and lid have an enamel coating but both should be seasoned as directed in the user guide in the Before First Use section. The user guide says that the pot coating is guaranteed to comply with legislation relating to materials in contact with food.I really like the design and concept of this oven. While the features are similar to other multicookers that have sauté, braise, simmer and slow cook settings, having a removable cast iron insert and lid that can be used on the stove top or oven as a standalone pot sets this apart from other multicookers. It’s possible to do a traditional braise on the stove or oven from start to finish, or start it on the stove, place the pot in the housing and finish it in the multicooker. The cast iron pot can also be used on the stove to fry food just as with a traditional Dutch oven. The directions are clear that frying should not be done when using the pot inside the housing. It’s really a versatile unit. The first dish I cooked in the pot was green beans and potatoes with smoked turkey. I used the slow cook low function and let it cook for 8 hours. I was really pleased with the results. Slow cook low was actually low. On some multicookers, slow cook low cooks really fast.I like to fry bacon in the pot on the stove, add onion and sauté for a couple of minutes, and then add cabbage wedges on top, season with salt and pepper, add a 1/4 cup of water or broth, and then put the pot in the housing and simmer until the cabbage is tender. I’ve used the braised function to prepare this dish before, but it cooks faster than I want it to so I started using simmer or manual because the temperature ranges are lower, and I can control how fast it cooks. The electric Dutch oven also works well as a steamer or poacher using the simmer preset or manual settings. I use the trivet and steamer tray that came with one of my pressure cookers when steaming. The user guide states that the pot and lid are dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended. I decided to hand wash mine.Overall, I am pleased with the electric Dutch oven and recommend it.

I was so excited to be offered the chance to use and review this item. Let me tell you why.1. What’s in the box?: You receive the Dutch oven very well packed. Don’t be shocked at how heavy this is but that is mostly the Dutch oven part which is cast iron. You receive that, plus the base unit, the plug and instructions and the usual other paraphernalia.2. Aesthetic?: This is quite nice looking, with the oven part sitting in the base unit, and the thing is glossy black. The base unit is a nice pleasing stainless steel looking color (it is plastic by the way) with nice easy to read buttons and a bright LCD menu.3. Use?: Like apparently most cast iron Dutch ovens, this has to be cured by baking it with some vegetable oil. I definitely recommend using the internet to find instructions on doing this. This was easy, but does involve some effort to prepare the thing for use.Once you accomplish the above, then using this is quite easy. The menu is pretty intuitive when you turn this on. You can vary the temperature and cooking time in the different modes.I love that saute mode. This is really useful since you can brown meats and vegetables and keep the item in the oven without having to do this separately. Plus it means keeping the juice from whatever you re making in the pot which adds flavor. The slow cook and high cook modes are also really good. This is a real Dutch oven, which means you can use the thing not only in this base unit, but also separately in the oven, or as I have on the BBQ. Terrific. High quality.Cleaning is important, but this is definitely not a dishwasher safe item since Iron can rust. It is clearly important to dry the thing after washing and to ensure there isn’t moisture allowed to sit in the Oven (there outside is coated so less of a concern).Overall?: This is initially very expensive. You can always buy a crock-pot for very little money. However this is with more expensive, more useful and just superior quality.

I was slightly disappointed with this as I thought it was enameled covered but the inside of the pot is not. It is cast iron which must be seasoned often. The outside of the pot is enamel covered. Other than that I like the All Clad products.
