Tested in full, works well, no issues
This is a “Bizv 2K Indoor Security Camera, Pet Camera with Phone App, Baby Monitor, Pan/Tilt etc ” camera.I read the one other review this camera has right now, dated 2 weeks ago, and I’m a bit confused, as I experienced nothing like that at all. Like we reviewed a different thing. No subscription, no Alipay. no personal info, no $70. OK, let’s move on.I scanned the QR code on the box, and downloaded the app from Google Play store. It required no weird permissions at all, other than file and location, and maybe camera, which are required to scan the QR code on the camera, and work with video. The location I granted one time only, that lets it use the camera to scan the QR code on the CAM. Location permission isn’t needed after that.Account setup required only an email, and setting a password for your new account, nothing else.Setup was voice prompted, and it connected to my WIFI, and it was online. The only thing that costs money is if you want cloud storage. If offered that for 1 cent.I put a 64 gig MicroSD card into it instead. I don’t need cloud storage. MicroSD storage is free.I tried motion tracking, alarm, Pan / tilt functions. I check the automatic records, and manually triggered one too. There is PT patrol mode as well, where it can scan the room in intervals.Video recording is sharp and clear, and it has a good microphone.Playback is easy from the microSD card using the app,and you can also download recordings from the CAM’s microSD to your phone too. This works just fabulous for watching my pet when I step out.I played with this over the span of several days, and I had no problems, everything worked as it should.I’m quite happy with it 😊

    Had to subscribe
In the description it is noted that “no subscription fees required,” however, in order to get the camera to work, I had to sign up for a recurring monthly subscription of $70 CDN. This subscription is managed via a third party payment system called, “Alipay”. That is a non starter for me.Further to that, upon reading the fine print, the app that runs this camera collects a great deal of personal information and states that it will share that information with third parties, in particular, Alipay. Reading the terms and conditions of Alipay, it states that “you are required to provide basic identity information, including name, nationality, gender, occupation, address, contact information, as well as type, number and expiry date of valid identity documents.”Further in the terms and conditions it states that this information along with “location information will be stored on a server in the city of Jiguang.”In other words, all of this private information is being collected and stored so I can watch my cat while I am not at home. That is a hard stop for me.I did not proceed with the installation and as I would not sign up for the automatically renewing subscription, I could not get the camera to work.I cannot recommend this camera due to the clear requirement of having to subscribe and the collection and retention of so much private information.Product reviewed: Bizv 2K Indoor Security Camera, Pet Camera with Phone App, Baby Monitor, Pan/Tilt, Motion & Sound Detection, Night Vision,Two-Way Audio

Dont Expect to Watch from a Distance
The set up was okay, very weird instructions that are partially on paper, partially on the app and partially on the camera (i would recommend having someone tech-friendly set it up)Once i figured it out it was fine.-Image quality is good.-Motion tracking is good.-Record is good (i bought a mini SD card to save records and have more space)-Sound quality is bad (i bought this camera because my neighbours complained that my dog howls during the day when i am at work but when there is too much noise the sound cuts out)-Watching from a distance i.e from work NON functional. (I cant EVER log in from work to keep an eye out on my dog and i don’t get alerts as advertised) (i have to log in once i am at home and watch what happened throughout the day)

    Generic and disappointing
I take my security cameras very seriously and this product is bad. The image quality is abysmal.Brands like ieGeek for the same value can deliver infinitely sharper and way higher definition images. I was actually surprised at how bad it was, especially during night. The design is a gimmick, the notch at the top is used to block the camera when it enters “privacy mode”, okay… zero need for this feature, it just takes away from the capabilities of the camera being able to look up more. And it keeps entering this mode any time you go near that notch by trying to look up on the camera. At least it’s USB-C, overall disappointing and a cheap generic camera that makes you regret getting it.
