I got this Buddha to see how it could help my students who need emotional regulation support. The kids were already used to taking deep breaths with an expandable breathing ball. But since I got the Buddha, it is all they want to use. Whenever someone is experiencing big feelings I suggest they go and spend some time with the Buddha to calm down and reset. The soft silicone provides a nice sensorial stimulation and the kids find it very satisfying to squeeze it while taking deep breaths. They love the fact that the Buddha changes colors, breathes, and talks. It is like having a friend that helps you feel better. Plus it comes with a stress ball that is very nice to touch, not too hard, not too soft. I highly recommend this if you are a parent or a teacher.

I’ve tried different visual guided breathing lamps and I like this one the best. It comes with a remote that allows you to choose what you want to do so easily. I love the “Guided Breathing” mode. The Buddha changes colors and inhales/holds the breath/exhales (very soothing sound of inhaling/ exhaling, similar to ocean sounds).

I love that this Buddha gives you 3 options to do the 4-7-8 breathing: 1) using only the lights to guide you (when it is green you breathe in, when it turns purple you hold your breath and when it turns blue you breathe out) 2) When you choose the button “Guided Breathing” on the remote, you can listen to the Buddha breathing in and out with you 3) If you choose the button “Countdown” on the remote, the Buddha speaks. This last mode is my personal favorite as you are guided not only by lights but also by the Buddha’s voice, kind of having your own mindfulness coach motivating and guiding you throughout the whole breathing exercise. I think it is a pretty good idea to add that function, to have the Buddha counting down (breathe in 4, 3, 2, 1…hold 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Breathe out 8,7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1). Another plus: it comes with a stress ball that I really liked. I also like the fact that it turns off after 2 hours. I have been doing the breathing exercise before going to sleep, which has been a great relaxation addition to my bedtime routine. And then I just leave the night light on for a while (my son sleeps with me and does not like to sleep in complete darkness). I personally don’t use the white noise options, but it does offer rain, ocean, and bird sounds.
