Moms can feel as if they are sprinting through life, crashing onto the pillow at day’s end only to start again the next morning. In Breathe, Mama, Breathe, psychotherapist Shonda Moralis outlines the benefits of daily meditation and shows moms how to do it—in just five minutes! Plus, she shares over 60 “mindful breaks” that will help moms tune into their own well-being (along with everyone else’s):
Eat a mindful breakfast—with no phone, TV, or newspaper!Cuddle your child and take three deep breaths together.Give yourself a mindful-mommy high five—because moms can use positive reinforcement, too.
Every mom—whether caring for a new baby, an overscheduled grade-schooler, or an angsty teen—can become a mindful mama!

The Three-Breath Hug
While hugging your child, take three deliberate, synchronized, deep breaths together. Drop your shoulders and relax any muscles that feel tight. Let go and feel the tension melt away. Teach the hug to your kids and your partner. Little ones love it and teenagers secretly do, too. Use it as you say good-bye in the morning, when you recognize that your child could use a calming hug, or just for the love of it. You never know when they will surprise you and offer a much-needed three-breath hug to dear old Mom.

I am already loving this book! Why pay gobs of money on counseling when you can get this book?! (Halfway joking) Seeiously though, it’s crazy how I already felt calm the first day I practiced meditating and started reading this book. It’s an easy one to read and one you don’t have to really think about. It’s a smooth read and i love the layout of this book. I also love these little quotes (in blue) that are included on some of the pages. Really gets you thinking deeper 🙂

Insightful, easy to read, and entertaining. I appreciate the author’s honesty and transparency, particularly regarding postpartum depression (that is rare, and refreshing to see in a book) and the difficulties around being a parent in general. I am not quite finished with the book but have already incorporated some of what I’ve learned into my daily life. I hope to pass my copy on to a fellow stressed-out mom when I’m done.

I like it. I did think it was going to go more into depth. Seemed a tad repetitive. It is more of a book to go too when you need a few ideas.
