I make stocks that come out like jello, stews done in 20 minutes
The fact is you really cannot go halfway with a pressure cooker. If you’re going to get one, you need one that holds pressure and is safe. Kuhn Rikon is the gold standard. Save your money up, skip the bargain models, and get the flawless kuhn rikon.I make stocks that come out like jello, stews done in 20 minutes, and tough cuts of beef melted in a couple of hours. It’s a time saver, a power saver, and just plain fun. Came faster than I expected and in perfect condition. Good seller, great product.FYI, I wouldn’t go smaller than 7.4 qt. This fits most modernist recipes (like Heston Blumenthal, etc.) and can cook for about 8 to 10 people, but as little as 2 to 4.

beautiful!
a beautiful piece of kitchen equipment! quite large! I was expecting it to look a little smaller from the pictures, but it’s pretty huge. a nice size to be useful for cooking though, since you can mostly only fill things half-way up for pressure cooking.the pressure cooker works great, feels safe, and feels quality. it came with a great manual including some good recipes, as to be expected from kuhn rikon, and it feels like it will last well.it also DOES come with the steaming trivet. I was never able to confirm that before I bought it, but it did come.

Amazing pressure cooker!
This is my 4th pressure cooker altogether. I love cooking with them and Kuhn Rikon is the best as far as I am concerned. This is the 3rd Kuhn Rikon I purchase. I own various sizes. Once you try a Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker, you don’t want to try anything else. Pressure cooking makes cooking so much easier, both in terms of flavor and cooking time. It makes the most tender roasts ever; and this in 1/3 of the regular cooking time. And cooking potatoes in a pressure cooker beats boiling them in water any day. I must say that I expected this 8 1/2 quart unit to be bigger. I trusted the dimensions provided on the Amazon.ca website (30.5 X 30.5 X 27.9) These dimensions are false. This pressure cooker is actually 22 cm in diameter not 30.5 as mentioned. 8 cm in diameter makes a big difference! (It is 27.9 cm in height). None the less, I decided to keep this smaller unit. It is perfect for smaller quantities (remember you can only fill a pressure cooker 1/2 to 2/3rd of its capacity. There must be empty space for pressure to build). I now plan on ordering a bigger one (probably the 12 quart). I just wish I could rely on the dimensions provided on the Amazon.ca website to guide me. I advise you to check other websites to see what dimension these pressure cookers really are..

This would make a great gift for anyone who enjoys cooking
I don’t have a huge amount of experience with pressure cookers, but after owning a T-Fal Clipso 6qt, which I loved so much, I started eyeing the better brands. Here are my thoughts:1. The exhaust valve on this model is beautiful and also extremely sturdy. I dropped the lid on my Clipso and the plastic pressure knob was damaged, and I couldn’t find where to get a new knob. I think the KR would survive a similar fall because the mechanism is all-metal. If it did break, KR seems to sell all sorts of replacement parts2. From what I understand, the pressure on the KR goes higher than the Clipso3. This is much quieter than the Clipso – it basically doesn’t make any sound except for at the start, when the pressure knob engages, and if the pressure goes too high and the steam needs to exit4. Obviously it’s more efficient than pressure cookers that constantly let out a bit of steam5. The lid is harder to lock than the Clipso, requiring precise alignment and a twist, but it’s also lighter and easier to carry6. I think it probably just needs cleaning, but the pressure “knob” doesn’t engage as easily as when I first got it7. Beans seem to cook better in this than the Clipso. Not sure why – maybe it’s just a different batch of beans\8. I love the sizeOverall, I am completely satisfied with this pot. It’s one of those things I hope will be passed down to my children.

Great pressure cooker
I love this pressure cooker set and have been using it on a daily basis since the day I got it. This combo comes with the glass cover that allows me to use the cook set for ordinary cooking or just a quick stir fry. The cookbook is not that useful, though. But after using it for a few times, I figured out how long it takes to cook different types of beans or wheat. I think this is a great purchase. I used to have a Le Creuset saucepan and an All Clad cook set. I don’t use those any more because the Kuhn Rikon is much more efficient and cooks faster. Would highly recommend to those who want to save time and energy.

Really enjoying the results, the simplicity, and the ability to work on all cooking surfaces. Induction with pressure? Perfect!
