It isn’t very good for the price. It works okay with a gas stove but is very poor with our electric stove because it warped when it was used on the stove. We have a glass top range and the pan never makes good contact with the range surface. The pan is supposedly under a lifetime warranty for as long as we own it, but we have had no success actually getting it replaced. We’ve been in touch with All-Clad at least three times through email, the web site and by telephone to get it replaced with one that isn’t warped, but customer service has yet to provide the UPS shipping labels to return it as promised.Comparing this pan with other products like the Emeril Pro-Clad pan, I would have to say that the Pro-Clad pan is a better product. It is lighter, it is much cheaper, and it hasn’t warped with ordinary use. My wife tells me the All-Clad customer service person told her it is normal for the pan to be warped before it heats up because it changes shape with heat. But whether hot or cold it never makes proper contact with the surface of the stove and efforts to resolve the problem with customer service have been a dead end. We are very disappointed with this product and All Clad’s customer service.

This is my first quality stainless steel pan. I’ve cooked before in a smaller stainless steel pan, but one of lesser quality.I never payed so much money on a pan before but i wanted to try one made by All Clad. And since this, for some reason, is much cheaper than other similar sized All Clad pans, i bought it. First of all, no, this is not a refurbished pan or a non try-ply. IT IS try-ply (it says clearly on the box) and it is new and without manufacturing defects. The lid is domed and very shiny (finger print magnet). The pan is big and heavy (not as heavy as cast iron, but you need to use the helper handle) and very solid. The food won’t stick if use the proper steps: heat the empty pan on low to med heat, test with a drop of water and if it evaporates instantly, then you’re ready for the next step, when you add oil or butter and wait 20 seconds or so. Then add the meat (or onions, etc). What struck me was how quickly it heated, none of my previous pans heated this quickly. That being said, i’ll replace the rest of my crappy smaller pans with cast iron, not with stainless steel. Stainless steel is good for larger pans like this one, where you also cook acidic foods like lemon juice with tomatoes and also don’t want to weigh a ton. But cast iron heats just as well, cleans just as easily (or hard, depending on method) and are much cheaper. I recommend to get both.ps: the interior dimensions of this 4 quart pan are: 2.5 inch deep and 10.6 wide

FYI, I looked at this pan carefully in a store and it is exactly the same pan as the All-Clad Stainless 4 Quart Saute Pan (which sells for quite a bit more) but with a different lid. This model comes with a domed braising lid, as opposed to the flat lid that comes with the regular 4 Quart Saucepan. Unless you really want the flat lid, this is a much better value. This is a great size and shape for a Saute Pan. It’s about 11″ in diameter and on the inside the sides are about 3″ high. I think this is a great height to help keep things in the pan but still allowing good access. Perfect for cooking pasta sauces and then marrying the pasta with the sauce before serving. Also good for sauteing chicken or pan-roasting 2 or 3 steaks.

I love All-clad pans, and own a bunch of them. I bought this one for the dome lid as pictured, but what arrived had the usual flat lid. Bummer. Returned it.

I haven’t found much I can’t do with this pan – excellent for “one pot” meals like sweet and sour chicken, or pepper steak. With a little Barkeeper’s Friend, it cleans up beautifully. At first, it was a little weird never having the stove top set above “Medium”, but this pan works very well. Feels like it will last a good long time. Definitely in the category of “a little more expensive, but worth it in the long run.”
